Frederick Schwartz Obituary

It is of great sadness to say that Fred died unexpectedly of heart failure at the age of 77. He was born at the old Ross Hospital and was raised by his parents Victoria and Hal Schwartz in Mill Valley. He attended schools there graduating from Tamalpais High School in 1964. He was on the organizing committee for his upcoming 60th reunion at Tam High and maintained friendships with many former classmates.Fred served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and went on to a successful career in construction management, mostly in Massachusetts where Fred and Carol lived from 1981 until moving back to Marin in 1998. His mechanical skills were equaled by his creative approach to home remodeling, the garden and volunteerism. Upon retirement he utilized his skills to help grateful (he lovingly called his) "little old ladies" as a handyman. For the last 10 years he was a dedicated volunteer with the National Park Service at Battery Townsley in the Marin Headlands. He was a long-time member of the North Bay Cobra Club and Nor Cal Shelby Club. He was an adventurous traveler, going places others did not, including a trip along the Amazon River. He and Carol enjoyed many cruises to Europe, Asia, and the CaribbeanHe is survived by his beloved wife, Carol, his step-son, Ron Hollander of Pembroke, Massachusetts and three grandchildren and one great grandson.Fred will be interred at Fernwood Cemetery where he will have a view of Mt. Tam. A celebration of life will be held in the future.
