Gail Egan Obituary

Gail Lenore Egan Gail passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2016 at the age of 67. Gail was born on November 14, 1948 in Ross, Ca. She was the youngest daughter of Virginia and John Egan. She is survived by her sister, Mary Hogan and husband, Jay, and niece, Kathleen Hogan; her niece, Chantal Kimberlain and husband, Mike, and grand nephews, Noah and Joshua Kimberlain; her niece, Elizabeth O'Sullivan and husband, Sean, and her grand nephew, Will, and grand nieces, Claire and Eve O'Sullivan; and her brothers-in-law, Paul Clifford and Kenn Britting, and her niece, Meaghan Britting. (Gail was pre - deceased by her loving sister, Nancy Britting.) She leaves many devoted friends and neighbors as well, especially Patrice and Jessica, who helped her when she was sick. Gail graduated from Redwood High School in 1966, and she earned her Masters Degrees in Film and in Elementary Education at California State University, San Francisco. She was an accomplished and talented artist and enjoyed painting, photography, and sculpting. Auntie Gail enjoyed the outdoors and revered nature. She and her nieces had many fun adventures along the beaches in California, Hawaii, and Maine. They also enjoyed camping at Yosemite! Auntie Gail's sense of humor kept her nieces laughing, and they will remember fondly their explorations with her! Gail loved animals, especially her dogs, Lily and Harvest, and her cats, Scruff and Cloudfoot. Gail will be remembered as having a kind heart and independent spirit, and she will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Gail's Life is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, at 11:00 am at Monte's Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo, Ca. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Gail's memory to the Marin Humane Society, 171 Bel Marin Keyes, Novato, Ca., or to Save-the-Redwoods League, 111 Sutter Street, San Francisco, Ca.

I was Gail's caregiver in her last years in life, she was a tough cookie but she taught me so much about life and that I will never forget. I miss you like crazy even tho we drove each other like crazy. I'll always love you and miss you terribly! I love you Gail, you will never be forgotten. Love, Jessica (your best caregiver/adopted daughter)

I will miss Gail. Our relationship was mainly by phone and yet our conversation could go on for a long while. Over the 7+ yrs. we shared these conversations, I found we were of like mind in many areas. Thus, Gail was easy for me to open up. Gail WILL be missed. To many of us that is a given. God Bless and console her family leaving them with only the best of memories.

Gail was a student of mine in the 60's. I adored her. She was usually late, grumpy, desheveled, dressed in a trench coat. She did well in my class and was so naturally entertaining with her drier than dry humor and "what you see is what you get" demeanor. Many years later she subbed at Drake High School where I was Principal in the '90's. She was still a little grumpy, still dry and still funny. I'm so sorry to hear that she has passed away, still fairly young and, I'm sure, still a lot of fun for those who knew and understood her. She was one of a kind for sure.
