Gerald Kelleher Obituary

Gerald Francis Kelleher 1936-2013 Jerry Kelleher, born August 1, 1936, passed away on February 4, 2013. Jerry was born in Eureka, CA to Margaret and Gerald Kelleher, Sr. He came to San Francisco as a young boy and attended Saint Cecilia's Grammar School and St. Ignatius High School. He attended college at USF, graduating with a Bachelor degree in English. After graduation, he enrolled in Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island where he earned his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country for 3 ½ years in Hawaii, San Diego, Long Beach and Alameda. On October 8, 1960 Jerry married Nancy (Onorato) in San Francisco. And following his Naval service, he and Nancy moved to San Anselmo in Marin County in 1964 where they raised their family. Jerry worked as a business executive for S.E. Onorato Garages until his retirement. Jerry was a member of the Olympic Club for 67 years as well as a member of the Sleepy Hollow Tennis Club. He enjoyed playing golf and spending summers in Lake Tahoe, where he was happiest being out on the lake with friends and family on his boat. He was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49-er fan. Jerry is survived by his wife Nancy of 52 years, his three daughters Teresa (Dildine), Anne (Cuendet), and Karen (Lambert), and his seven grandchildren. We would like to thank all the doctors, especially Dr. Bobbie Head, health care professionals and care givers for their compassionate care during Jerry's battle with lymphoma. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to San Domenico School, 1500 Butterfield Road, San Anselmo, CA 94960, or to Hospice by the Bay, 17 East Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Larkspur, CA 94939. A memorial service honoring Jerry will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 11:00 AM at St. Rita's Church, 100 Marinda Dr., Fairfax, CA.

Mrs. Kelleher, Bunny, Anne, & Teresa - As a little girl, Mr. Kelleher played such a big role in my world. He was always so kind and generous to me (especially while teaching me to waterski on Lake Tahoe). But mostly, he was a loving, fatherly neighbor to me, and I will always cherish that. My family and I are so sad to learn that he passed away, but truly feel blessed to have such wonderful memories of him. He was a treasure.

Dear Nancy,

Many prayers go out for you and your family. It's been quite some time since we were all raising our families together in Sleepy Hollow, as well as our San Domenico experiences. Gerry was so much a part of those fond memories, it is heartfelt to let you know that even here in Southern California the word of his passing has gotten to us swiftly and with such sadness. God bless and keep you.
