Irene was a special friend to all my family over the years. My husband, John, went to the Catholic grade school in Marin with Irene through fifth grade. They were both amazed to find that out in our early days in the Santa Cruz mountains. John and I played bridge with both Bart and Irene. Irene taught catechism to a couple of my children and they still remember the sound of her teaching voice.
In later years, we attended weekday Mass together and many of Fr, Eugenio's parish parties. John helped Irene get her deck finished after the 1989 earthquake. Irene was very active in her garden as well as hiking and skiing with friends from Marin and the Serra club. She will be missed by her family and all her many friends.

Irene was One very special follower of Christ in her daily life. She taught me love and patience and serving everyone especially those in need. I think of her often and miss her very much. The very best example in the world.

Irene was a true GEM amongst the Singleaires hiking group... always contributing, leading and hosting in her welcoming home. Warren Brown and I shared lunch with Irene several times during her illness. Despite her discomfort, Irene continued to the the beautiful lady we'd always appreciated: thoughtful of others, intelligent, warm and kind. She was clearly loved by her family and friends as well as many members of the Singleaire's Group. Irene was treasured and will be remembered and deeply missed by many.

Irene was a very special lady with a spunk and energetic spirit. I knew her as a fellow Sierra Singleaires hiker, going on many a hike she skillfully led.
May she rest in peace and am glad she was at home in her final hours.
My best to her family, Lovingly, Eleanor Hertzler

Irene was a wonderful, generous person. She was a great buddy to all that knew her in the Sierra Club. She led hikes for the club and volunteered her lovely home for post-hike potlucks. Once, after I had a car accident and was confined to a nursing home in Los Gatos, she visited and bought me a four-pack of wine. Very much appreciated, and a definite "no-no" in the facility.
I visited Irene recently after she was diagnosed with cancer and brought her lunch to share. As tired as Irene was, she was very gracious. She spent a lot of time showing me pictures of her children and grandchildren. Obviously, she loved them all very much and felt very close to all of them. She was very proud of her family. Obviously, she did a great job as the Matriarch.
I will miss Irene very much. My condolences to her lovely family. I wish the family peace and many wonderful memories of this special woman, mom and grandma.

Irene was a wonderfully kind person. She always volunteered her home for Sierra Club Potlucks. I remember once, after having an auto accident and being confined to a nursing home in Los Gatos, Irene visited me and bought me a four pack of wine. Very much appreciated and a definite "no-no" in the the nursing home. I visited Irene and brought her lunch after she was diagnosed with cancer and was feeling poorly. We had a wonderful time and spent a lot of time looking at pictures of her family. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She truly was the matriarch of the Miller family and they were devoted to her and she was to them.
I will miss Irene on Sierra Club hikes and I will miss her as a dear friend.
My condolences to the family. I wish you all peace as you are left with many memories of this very special person.

Lovely, accomplished woman. I enjoyed working with her on the Sierra Club Singleaires' nominating committee for about 4 or 5 years. She stepped in to lead it one year after I had a number of family issues back in Michigan; so I spent most of the summer back there. She had a lovely home in the Los Gatos hills, and would hostess club potlucks. She will be missed.

May God bless you and the beautiful family you led with strength, faith, and above all—love. May your family and friends carry the love you shared in their hearts forever and continue to spread that love as you showed them.
