James Delorey Obituary

James Raymond Delorey Beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Jim died peacefully at home on November 22, 2009 in San Anselmo of ALS. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Carolyn, mother Peg, brothers Ed, Tom, and John, sisters Janet and Theresa, his adored nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. His father, Raymond W. Delorey, preceded him in death. Born in East Weymouth, Mass., Jim was raised in Salinas. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 1966 and worked as a chemist at Mare Island for 30 years, followed by work as a chemical engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers in Sausalito and San Francisco until his retirement in 2003. Jim was known for his great sense of humor, passion for genealogy, sailing, and collecting German stamps, and his endless computer knowledge. He belonged to the Marin Genealogical Society, the National Assoc.of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and Chapter 24 of the Germany Philatelic Society. Jim was a wonderful, loving person with a ready smile and a twinkle in his eyes, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Donations in his memory may be made to the ALS Association of the Greater Bay Area, or to Hospice By The Bay.

Judy and I send our condolences to Jim's family and friends. Jim was a good friend and he will be missed. He always contributed to the success of the Marin Co. Genealogy Society and our computer interest groups. You could always count on Jim to add something of value and to share his latest genealogy discovery.
