Janet Isaac Obituary

Janet Faye Isaac (Grandma/Gram) 1934-2016 Passed away at Kaiser Permanente San Rafael, on June 29th. Janet is survived by three of her children, David Isaac, Nancy Simmons and Susan Chavez, sons-in-law Buck Chavez and Tom Simmons and daughter-in-law, Harriet Isaac. Her son, Jim Isaac preceded her in death in 2012. Janet was Grandma to Jake, India and Imogen Isaac, and Gran to Neal, Lucas, Skylar, Nicole and Grace Chavez. She will also be missed by a large family of siblings, Doug York, Anne Bradley, Ben York and Ken York and many much loved nieces and nephews. Born in Viper Kentucky, Janet came from a large, hard-working family of Yorks and Brownings. She was raised in Sacramento, CA, married Dave Isaac in 1954, and then lived in San Francisco before moving to Woodacre in 1961. For twenty years, as the mother of four kids, she was involved in the Woodacre social scene consisting of The Valley Players Theatre Group, San Geronimo Valley Presbyterian Church and The Lagunitas School. Janet took a leap of faith after a divorce, demonstrating great determination, by purchasing Don's Liquor store to become an independent businesswoman. She retired after almost 25 years of successfully running her business to catch up with years of missed time with family, and to enjoy her love of reading. Her loss will be felt by her book club, as well as many lifelong friends, who shared both the joys and sorrows of life. The little Kentucky girl became a mother and businesswoman, but her greatest joy was being Grandma/Gran. Janet will be missed, but always remembered and loved. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, August 20th at the San Geronimo Presbyterian Church, 6001 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, San Geronimo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The San Geronimo Valley Community Center. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to: San Geronimo Valley Community Center, PO Box 194, San Geronimo, CA 94963. Online donations can be made in Janet's memory by going to www.sgvcc.org and entering Janet Isaac's name. For more information, please contact Nancy Isaac Simmons, [email protected]

She was Absolutely Wonderful. My fondest memory is her handing out gummy worms to the kids. She brought out love in everyone in Bolinas

Janet was wonderful and I always looked forward to seeing her at Don's Liquors when I was in Bolinas. She had a huge heart and was loved by many.

To all the Isaac's and extended family - I'm just now hearing this and I'm shocked. I just loved your Mom - she had a special combo of humor and toughness - we understood each other. When I was young she was welcoming and understanding at just the right times.
I know her heart broke when Jimmy passed - I sincerely hope they are hanging out and sharing laughs now.
So very sorry for your loss. Much love to you all.
