Janet Lauer Obituary

Janet Denise Lauer Died Friday, September 24, 2021 in Mill Valley, CA. Daughter of the late Edwin and Harriett Lauer of Buffalo, New York. Also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Victoria and Maurice Carlin, M.D. of Santa Rosa, CA. A graduate of The Buffalo Seminary and Skidmore College, she received Master's Degrees from U.C. Berkeley in Medical Social Work, and from the University of San Francisco in School Psychology. Jan's social work career included work as an Assistant Field Director with the American Red Cross service in military hospitals, Catholic Social Service of San Francisco, and in the Special Education Department of the San Francisco Unified School District. She was an avid gardener and traveler. She was also active in the American Association of University Women, St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Sausalito and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mill Valley. She had been a resident of Marin County since 1963. She is survived by six nieces and nephews: Brian Carlin, M.D., Barry Carlin, Tama Brown, Deirdre Cassidy, Bonnie Faller, and Marcianne Kloetzer; and her longtime friend, Ruth Johnson. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mill Valley, CA. Rosary at 10:30 a.m., Mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael, CA. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charity of your choice will be appreciated.
