Jeannine Thornton Obituary

Jeannine F. Thornton October 28, 1941 ~ March 31, 2007 Jeannine Thornton passed away at her home in Olympia, Washington last Saturday morning, at age 65. Jeannine had endured many heart complications for the past several years and died of cardiac arrest early Saturday morning. Jeannine was born in Miller, South Dakota to Alma Faye Dodd and Fred Elmer Rawson. Jeannine was born a twin and also had an older sister. Her family relocated to Marin County in the 1940s where she attended grammar and high school. There she married and raised three children, as well as pursued a career in counseling. Jeannine's passion in life was to help people. Much of her work was in counseling. Some of her work included the Marin County Methadone Clinic, Counseling Assistant at San Quentin Prison, Chairperson for the Marin County Adult Criminal Justice Commission and then a Bereavement Counselor for Hospice of Marin. Jeannine relocated to Washington State in 1995 where she continued to practice and expand on her spiritual beliefs. Jeannine is survived by her older sisters Karen Liliard and Jeannette Caress, as well as her daughter and son-in-law Franci and Peter Griffith, also her daughter-in-law Lisa Thornton and her two sons Jeff Thornton and Tony Guagliano. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Austin Griffith, Anna Thornton and Evan Thornton. Jeannine was a member of the Neptune Society. Her ashes were scattered at Sea. A Memorial Service will be held in Marin later in April. Those wishing to attend the services are invited to contact the family for details. Jeannine was a very kind, helping and loving woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
