Joan Chandler Obituary

Joan A. Chandler Joan Chandler, 88, of Plano, TX, passed away on August 9, 2021. The oldest of five girls, her sister, Phyllis, lives in North Carolina and she was preceded in death by sisters Zoila, Beverly, and Shirley. She married Manford "Manny" Chandler and had two daughters, Charlina and Donna, before the family moved to Marin. Manny was the Executive Director of The Boys Club in Marin City. They were married for 25 years until his passing. Joan worked as an Executive Assistant for college educators at the College of Marin and Indian Valley College. She earned her Associates Degree 25 years after high school graduation and was involved in community activism and service. She built strong relationships with people from all walks of life. She is survived by daughter, Donna Chandler of Frisco, TX; grandson, Ross McAdoo of Anchorage, AK; grandson, Russell McAdoo of Miami, FL; and great-grandson, Maverick Cru McAdoo. Joan's husband Manny and oldest daughter, Charlina Chandler McAdoo predeceased her. Joan will be buried with her husband, a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, at the San Francisco National Cemetery. Her memorial service will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Larkspur, CA on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., and noon at the cemetery.
