JOAN HOPPER Obituary

Joan W. Hopper April 27, 1921 -April 6, 2010 Joan died peacefully at her home after a short illness. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Wisconsin in 1943 having majored in English and French literature. She worked in Europe during and after WWII where she met and married Captain Don. G. Hopper, a paratrooper with the 82nd airborne. She was deeply involved in the Emeritus Students of the College of Marin where she took many classes, initiated the formation of the Spanish Club and was Editor of their newsletter for 12 years. In her spare time she loved her Mendocino home, travel, her garden, reading and solving cryptograms and crossword puzzles. She is greatly admired for unselfishly sharing her many skills and helping people in need. She was predeceased by her husband, Don, in 1977 and is survived by her children Christine Rodgers of Bremerton, Washington and William Hopper of Dearborn Michigan. Contributions in Joan W. Joan and I worked together on a daily basis at San Rafael Kaiser Foundation Hospital for about 5 years. She was always sunny and one of the brightest, selfless, and most interesting people I know. She will be missed by all who knew her.
