JOSEPH COLLETTO Obituary

Joseph Sully Colletto Peacefully passed away of natural causes on March 20, 2011 in Petaluma at the age of 84 to join his brother, mother and father. Joseph was born on May 27, 1926 in Waltham, MA to Italian parents, Sully and Martha Colletto. Joseph graduated from Waltham High School in 1944 and St. Mary's College in Moraga in 1956. He served his country as a U.S. Marine in the Pacific during WWII. In 1962, he met his wife in San Francisco, Ann Dobbs Colletto whom he was married to for 48 years. He is survived by his wife and two sons; James Sully Colletto and John Vincent Colletto. Joseph was an avid sailor, touring San Francisco Bay on many Sunday afternoons, Gig Harbor, Washington, and the U.S Virgin Islands. Also, he loved the challenges of sailing alone and was a member of the Single Handed Sailing Society and raced around the local Farallones Islands finishing as high as 3rd place one year. Joseph was a loyal 49ers, Giants, and A's fan, and felt blessed to finally witness a Giants World Championship this past fall. He worked as a salesman for US Rubber and C&D Batteries before retiring at the young age of 55. Joseph loved his family and was a very generous and caring person. He will be greatly missed by his immediate family, five grandchildren and extended friends and family throughout the Marin and Sonoma counties. Donations may be made in Joseph's name to: Singlehanded Sailing Society, 376 First Street, Benicia, CA 94510. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26th at 10:00 AM at Fernwood Funeral Home, 301 Tennessee Valley Road, Mill Valley, CA 94941. Contact: Raymond Soudah - 415-383-1700

Joe, I haven't seen you , I believe, since one of the Waltham High School Alumni reunion dances. I had not seen you for years and was most pleased you were there. I am terribly saddened now to hear you have left us. You were a really nice person so I have no doubts as to where you are now. God bless you and your family during this very difficult time for them.
