I had the pleasure of knowing Marilyn Amini during the early to mid 1970s. I was a good friend of her daughter Lisa Amini and we spent as much time at Lisa's house as we could, in large part because of Marilyn. We rode mini-bikes in the street, played games, went roller skating and generally hung out at and around their house. We even made a trip to Clear Lake once and tried water skiing - quite a treat for us City kids. I always felt like Marilyn was the perfect mother. She made us cookies and other treats and I'll never forget how she doubled the mix to create jello bars we could eat by hand. She fed us snacks and engaged us in small talk and I always had a tiny bit of jealousy that she wasn't my own mom. After 9th grade grad from Hoover I moved to Berkeley and lost touch with Lisa along with all of the other close friends I'd gathered over the years, but I never forgot that feeling of freedom combined with loving care that Marilyn created for all of us at that house in the sunset avenues. She was a motherly angel to me and I'm sure she went straight to Heaven. RIP Marilyn.
