Matthew Michael Boykin Matthew Michael Boykin left this world unexpectedly on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at his home in Novato. Matthew was born May 6, 1986 in Mississippi to Bruce Boykin and Stella Clark. At the age of two, his family moved to California, where he grew up in Novato, attending Our Lady of Loretto, Sinaloa Middle School, San Marin High, and Cal Poly. Matthew had an infectious laugh and was immediately warm and engaging from the moment you met him. He had such an open, approachable presence with a very quick wit. He loved sports of all kinds, especially watching Warrior games with his mother, where the courtside reporting was at its finest. Matthew also loved listening to and creating music; a talent he inherited from his father. Matthew was a talented and intelligent man, excelling in architecture and project management for both construction and architecture projects. He was teaching himself French and was becoming quite good. He was very generous and compassionate, a truly kind soul whose loyalty ran deep. Although Matthew was only 35 years old when he passed, he lived his life to the fullest. He always looked forward to his annual summer vacations, whether it be camping on the Eel River, Tahoe, snorkeling and swimming in the Caribbean, visiting family in Mississippi, or learning to scuba dive. Matthew also had a passion for traveling and particularly loved France, Italy, Greece, and Cabo. But most of all, he loved being a father and a husband. He couldn't wait to get home to play with his son Jordan. Matthew is survived by the love of his life, wife Tara; their one-year-old son, Jordan Thomas; mother, Stella Clark; father, Bruce Boykin; sister Meaghan Boykin; step mother, Diana Boykin; step sister, Michelle Aleman, and step brother, Adam Lagares. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Audrey Norman and brother-in-law, Thomas O'Brien. He's left behind six aunts and uncles, 11 cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, many dear friends, and devoted clients who supported him during his short life. Please come and pray with us at a funeral Mass for Matthew, which will be held on November 13, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Loretto, 1806 Novato Blvd. Join us afterwards to give him a final sendoff at a reception to celebrate his life.
