Maxine Humphrey Obituary

Maxine Sophia Humphrey Age 84, of Lucas Valley, CA passed away on December 26, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, March 19, 1930 to Oscar Anderson and Alma Myhre. Her family traveled the U.S. one summer and finally settled in Sacramento where she completed her schooling. She was a secretary for Calwest Insurance until she met and married Hobart Humphrey. Maxine was a stay at home mom for her three daughters until they were grown. She is survived by Diane Kotsaris (Brad); Kristine Humphrey Browne and Leslee Pardo (Dave) and by her two grandsons Nikolas Kotsaris and Garrett Pardo. She worked at the Marin IJ for 20 plus years. Maxine had a great sense of humor and loved nothing more than a good joke or a funny card to celebrate her birthday. Maxine loved to read and would sometimes read several books in a week, and she had a collection to prove it. She loved her home, her garden, all animals and most of all being with her family. A Celebration of life will be held February 7th from 2:00-4:00PM at the Lucas Valley Community Center, 1201 Idylberry Rd, San Rafael, 94903.

Dear Kris and family, It is a very sad day the day we say good bye to our mother. I so enjoyed working with her and grabbing lunch together in the lunch room. She always stopped me on the way out and shared a joke or two. She was a fabulous woman and she will be missed. I will never forget her. May the good memories you shared get you through this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Maxine was the ballast of our IJ ex-pat group that met often. She made us all laugh and we all enjoyed sharing memories of the times we spent either working at the IJ, our travels and books we read.

She will be greatly missed.

I loved seeing Max at the front desk of the IJ all my years working there. She was such a sweetheart and always had a funny joke to share in person or by email. My sympathies to the family. She was quite a treasure just knowing her the little I did.

Kris, I am so sorry. I truly enjoyed working with Max all those years at the IJ and being greeted by her as I walked in the door. Some great stories have come out of the old IJ crew after hearing the sad news... They would make you smile.
