MEGAN HOPE GIFFORD-FOULIS

Megan Hope Gifford-Foulis Surrounded by her family, Megan Hope Gifford-Foulis gently entered into eternity on December 29, 2011 from complications related to her six year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). A long time resident of Lucas Valley, CA, Megan was born January 9, 1953 and grew up in Sausalito, CA. She attended Marin Country Day School, the Athenian School, Tamalpais High School, College of Marin and the University of California, Berkeley. Following graduation, what was supposed to be "just a temp job" grew into a thirty five year career in accounting and management with ABM Industries. Megan was a lover of dance and overcame the challenges of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis to pursue her dream, including taking classes with the San Francisco Ballet. She passed on her passion for dance to her daughters. Family was always foremost with Megan. She constantly strove to balance the demands of work with the activities of her girls. She never missed a performance or game. Megan also found time to volunteer with Marin Dance Theater and Marin Primary and Middle School (MPMS) to support her daughters. Megan is survived by Bill, her loving husband of twenty nine years and her devoted daughters Caitlin and Alison. She is also survived by her mother Barbara H. Gifford, her sister Eugenie Gifford Baumann and her brother Sam Gifford. Megan was preceded in death by her father Russell Gifford. Megan's family would like to thank the chaplaincy and ICU staff at Kaiser San Rafael for their care and compassion for Megan during her illness. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Megan's name toward ALS research would be meaningful and greatly appreciated. Private services will be held at a later date.
