Michael Philip DeMattei

1957 - 2022

Michael Philip DeMattei was born to Robert and Elinor DeMattei January 5, 1957 at San Francisco's Letterman Hospital. He attended grammar school at St Brennan's in San Francisco. The family moved to Marinwood and he graduated from Mary E. Silveira Elementary School. He attended Terra Linda High School, graduating in 1975. He played 4 years of football and baseball. In his senior year, he was Marin High School Baseball's Leading Hitter. He was voted Most Valuable Player in the North-South All-Star game, ending the season. Shortly after graduating, Michael suffered a nervous breakdown and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He spent the rest of his life in various medical facilities. The last two years he was at Napa State Hospital, where he passed on September 25, 2022. He was predeceased by his mother, Elinor DeMattei. He is survived by his father Robert DeMattei (Kay), brother Paul DeMattei and sisters Susan DeMattei (David), Lisa DeMattei (Matt) and Nancy DeMattei, and nieces Jessica and Ava and nephews Cooper, Bennett and Samuel. The family held a private celebration of Michael's life.
