Nicholes Valeri

1931 - 2022

After a sudden illness, on the afternoon of July 24th, long time Corte Madera resident Nicholes Valeri passed away peacefully in Couer D' Alene Idaho where he recently resided to be near family. Born in the small seaside town of Porto San Giorgio, Italy in 1931, Nick immigrated to the United States at the young age of 7 along with his mother and two siblings eventually settling in the Marina district of San Francisco. He attended Marina Junior High and Galileo High School where he excelled in both track and basketball. After graduation from high school, Nick was drafted into the United States Air Force. While serving he was stationed in Europe, Texas and finally Maine where he eventually met his future wife, Doris. After a short courtship, Nick and Doris relocated to San Francisco where they married and started a family. In 1961, Nick moved his growing family to Corte Madera where he raised his four children and became an active member in local communities. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Parish in Larkspur. He also helped co-found the Italian Athletic Club of Marin and donated countless hours raising money for youth sports scholarships. He also remained a member of several Italian Social Club groups in San Francisco. Nick worked in the grocery industry for over forty years both in San Francisco and Marin and found he enjoyed the relationships he forged with many of his customers, relationships that lasted well after his retirement. Nick led a full and blessed life for 91 years and enjoyed the company of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nick was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Doris in 2018. He is survived by his four children Pamela Valeri (San Rafael, Ca.), Nicholas J. Valeri (San Anselmo, Ca.), Francesca Meyer (Carleton, Michigan), Valerie Wilkins (Hayden, Idaho) his grandchildren: Nicholes and Alexander White, Kalin and Amanda Meyer, Elaina Fesler, Jenna Wilkins, and his great grandchildren: Kalvin Meyer, Sophia Meyer, Declan Jennings, Bailey and Allison Fesler. Nick will be interred at the Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael Ca. No services are scheduled.
