Paul Solari Obituary
Paul E. Solari Age 90, passed away peacefully on the 27th of April, 2018 at his home in Kentfield, CA, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 15, 1927 in Geyserville, CA to Paolo and Guilia Catelli Solari. Paul was raised in Geyserville and graduated from Geyserville High School in 1945. After high school he: joined the Army Air Force in 1946 and served for 1-1/2 years. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant from Travis Air Base. attended junior college at Santa Rosa and then transferred to UC Berkeley in Berkeley, CA where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. began work for Del Monte Foods in 1958 as a Retail Salesman where he worked for 25 years before taking early retirement. He worked in Sales Management positions in the West and Midwest before being appointed Managing Director of Del Monte Foods, Ltd in the United Kingdom in 1968 where he relocated. In 1972 he was appointed Regional Vice President UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He travelled extensively and was responsible all operations and significant growth during that time. He returned to the US in 1976 and in 1981 was appointed VP of South America operations. He was appointed President and General Manager of Agripac Inc. of Salem, OR in 1983, where he was responsible for re-organizing the company and orchestrating new long-term supply agreements, ushering in a period of growth and stability. He retired in 1989 and served 3 more years as ex-officio Director of the Agripac Board. Paul married Louise Fletcher in 1951 in Santa Rosa, CA. They were happily married for 67 years. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Paolo and Guilia and brothers Bruno, Lawrence and Silvio. Paul is survived by his spouse Louise of Sebastopol, CA, his sons and daughters; David Solari (Chiara Moor) of San Anselmo, CA, Sandra Solari of Kentfield, CA, Julie Solari (Ken Eckhardt) of Sebastopol, CA, Ronald Solari (Julie Terry) of San Rafael, CA and Paul L. Solari (Zamira Jones) of San Anselmo CA, grandchildren; Romani Harrison, Siena Solari, Francesca Solari, Isabella Solari, Ava Solari and Sevilla Solari and great-grandchild Sofia Harrison. He is remembered by his friends and co-workers as being honorable, hard working and personable. His family remembers him as a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to cook and entertain and was proud of his Italian heritage. Paul requested a private cremation at Monte's Chapel of the Hills in San Rafael, CA. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The Continuum Care Hospice Foundation or The Salvation Army.
