Paula Helene Beard

1952 - 2023

Paula Helene Beard passed away January 4, 2023 at home in Carson City, NV. Paula was born January 16, 1952 in El Paso, TX to Paul & Helene Beard. Her father was an Air Force Pilot stationed in the US and abroad. She was very proud of her parents & her brother and her Air Force "Brat" heritage. Paula graduated from University of Houston in 1974 with an Accounting degree. She was athletically gifted and dreamed of playing tennis professionally but was encouraged to find her niche in business, and that she did. She was hired by Peat Marwick & became a Certified Public Accountant, thus beginning her long professional career as a Tax Accountant, which turned out to be anything but dull. Paula dearly loved Marin County, CA, where she lived and had a tax practice for many years. An early riser, she enjoyed working out before work and was as comfortable in Nike's as she was in heels and trademark strand of pearls. Paula was an accomplished runner who competed in countless 10Ks & marathons all over the country. She was a Western States 100 finisher, completing the iconic 100 mile mountain trail race in under 30 hours, and a Dipsea Survivor. Paula was beautiful, generous, gracious, resilient, tenacious & full of life. "She was a hoot!" Paula was dedicated to her tax practice clients & associates and to her family, friends and community. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Christopher Martin's congregation at St. Paul's in San Rafael. Paula is survived by her beloved big brother Albert (Cub) Beard & sister-in-law Kathy of Escondido, CA, family in Texas and posse to the finish line: Judy Schlossberg, Mary Hughes, Teri Goodman, Maryann Truitt. You're in our hearts Ms. P! We are immensely grateful for all the TLC & support Paula received from her compassionate healthcare team and the Senior Center in Carson City, NV. Plans are in the works for a memorial.
