I grew up with Rich out in the Sunset. We crossed paths often as we grew older.
He was one of the funniest, good thinking, great guys, that ever roamed the
Streets of San Francisco.
This obituary was so well written. He was a character.

To the Ames family, I had the honor to work with Rich at Station 8, I remember him as always the quiet gentleman, one man of many talents but few words. I will always remember him as a brother in the department.

To Rich's family. I will always have fond memories of Rich, a truly NICE guy. I also knew his wife Alice from Saint Gabriels grammer school, a real fine young lady. I am sure they are together again in Heaven. Prayers to you all. Rich Elb

Rich, the only thing that could match your tremendous athletic skills would be the way you attacked life with humor and philosophy. We love you and miss you... Gene Maher

To the Ames Boys, I am sad to hear about your father's death. Please know that I will keep you and your families in my prayers. I will be unable to attend the funeral because of a lack of transportation. I truly believe that your parents are together now with your grandmother, Marcella.

So many golf games not played, so many late nights not listening to the World According to Rich. I miss you already.
