Richard Keppel Obituary

Richard (Dick) L. Keppel, beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, passed away May 14th in Longmont. Richard was born on July 5, 1927 to Leopold Keppel and Theresia (Deutsch) Keppel. Richard grew up in Nazareth PA. Upon graduation Richard joined the U.S. Navy where he served until the surrender of Japan. After the war he attended Penn State University and the University of Washington. He went on to work in cartography for several companies. In 1985 he moved to San Anselmo, CA and married Elizabeth Johnson. Dick and Betty enjoyed their life in the Bay Area, eating at their favorite restaurant, Pucci's. After their retirement, he and Betty moved to Longmont. Richard is survived by family including his wife Elizabeth Johnson; son, David; grandsons Phillip and Shane and a great-grandson; and brothers Tom, Albert, Eugene and Edward. He was preceded in death by his brothers George, Leo, Henry, Paul and sister Margaret. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

The carrier has turned into the wind preparing for your final launch. You are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The Plank is in place and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. I did not know you personally, however it would be my greatest honor to "Thank You", for your dedicated and honorable Military Service; to OUR Country.
As a member of the "GREATEST GENERATION", and as a "WORLD WAR II VETERAN"; you SIR are my HERO!
At a later date, we will meet in that "SPECIAL PLACE" which GOD has reserved, for ALL of those who have stepped forward; to serve THEIR Country in a Military Uniform.
