Dear Mrs. Stoehr and family: We are so very sorry to have heard about Dick's passing and we wanted to send our condolences and to let you know that he was always my most favorite person at Homestake and the one who most inspired me to stay in the mining business. I last saw the two of you at a gas station in Tiburon shortly after we moved to Sacramento. He will be missed.

Sincerely,
Jeff Thatcher and Jean Kiel
