Thomas was a dear and kind man who I had the pleasure and honor of calling a friend. I own Culinary Excellence Catering and he was always there for me personally when I needed him and I always appreciated the care and attention he gave to me, my staff, and my clients. I know that I can speak on behalf of my daughter Jessica who is my manager and all of my coordination staff in saying how deeply sad we are to hear of Thomas' death. He will be terribly missed. Our hearts and prayers are with you his family at this very difficult time. As a person who has himself suffered from depression I know how difficult it can be and how desperate and alone one can feel even in the presence of so many people who love you. I only wish there was something I as another depression sufferercohld have done to help. I would have done anything to help him. He was a delight to work with. Someone I felt of as a true friend. And our lives will be a bit empty without his smile in our presence. We wish all his family the very best and know that Thomas is at a very peaceful place. I am terribly sorry to have missed the memorial today. I was out of the country for two months and just returned last night. I just heard the news today and it was too late. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
With all my best regards

Tom will be missed. He was a customer of mine at Bank of America. Always cheerful, he was the one that got me hooked on his wifes books she wrote. Prayers for the families left behind.

Tom began videotaping events and weddings in 1984. He taped my valedictory address before my graduating class of USF 1983. For decades, he referred to his company as Thomas Hughes Video Productions. At some point, he changed the name to "Films", but I doubt he ever shot any film and the name change was merely decorative and not to be taken literally. As a videographer myself for 20 years, Tom and I were very close since high school. I loved him like a brother. He was very generous and caring of others, had a great sense of humor, and one of the hardest working people I ever met. Tom worked well with others and worked well on his own, shy at times, yet an extrovert. The community lost one of its native sons. Prayers to his family and friends for peace.

I already miss you my friend and roommate. Although I may never be able to understand why you left us or the pain you suffered through I hope you are in a better place. Thank you for always being so supported of my business and my overall life. I hope to see you again.
