Thomas Linehan
On March 1st, 2005, passed away peacefully at home in San Rafael after an extended illness. Born December 3rd, 1926 in Kiskeam, Co. Cork, Ireland. He emigrated to the United States in 1948, initially to Oregon, but drawn by the bright lights of San Francisco, he moved to California in 1949.
Tom married his sweetheart Julia in 1950, living in San Francisco until 1965 where they had four children. They then moved the family to Marin. Tom was a devoted father to John, Thomas, Maureen, and Edward, and father-in-law to Jill. Loving grandfather to Sean, Gina and Kelly.
Brother to Con, Sister Marie, Jerry, Dan and Noreen. Preceded in death by his parents John and Nora, and siblings John Joe, Sister Carmel, Sister Catherine, Martin and Paddy. Tom had many, many cousins, nieces and nephews here and in Ireland and England.
Drafted into the Korean War in 1950, Tom was stationed stateside in Texas. Upon his return he worked honing his skills in the building industry, became a building contractor and began the family business in San Francisco in the early 1960s. Tom had a passion for his work, which he did for over 30 years. A proud Irishman, involved for many years in San Francisco's Irish organizations, he was a Charter member of the United Irish Cultural Center.
A true and loyal friend to many, Tom was always ready with a smile and a helping hand. He will be sorely missed.
Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City and after 6:45 p.m. at St. Cecilia Church, 17th Avenue and Vicente, S.F. where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Isabella's Church, 1 Trinity Way, San Rafael (Freitas Parkway and Las Pavadas). Interment to follow at Valley Memorial Park, Novato. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association of North Bay Chapter, 4340 Redwood Hwy., San Rafael, CA 94903, 415-472-4340, preferred.
