William Gross Jr.

1925 - 2022

Born in Milwaukee, WI. The son of immigrants, a child of the Depression & a member of The Greatest Generation. As a teenage soldier, Bill fought in the European theater during WWII, including the Battle of the Bulge. On returning to the States, Sargent William Gross was debriefed in Washington, DC, where he met his lifelong love, Jean Gill, to whom he was married for 75 years. Bill graduated from George Washington University, attending on the G.I. Bill. He & Jean raised 5 children in Falls Church, VA before he received a work transfer to the San Francisco in 1974. He lived in Novato for 47 years & found his faith and friends' community at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, where he enjoyed serving as a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus & Cursillo leader for other men of faith. Bill is the son of the late William & Victoria Gross. He survived his beloved daughter, Sharon. And he is survived by his wife, Jean, children Jan, Gail, Susan & John, as well as 12 grandchildren & 13 great-grandchildren.
