Alton "Al" Isaacs

MARION : Alton "Al" Isaacs, age 75, of Marion, died early Wednesday morning, May 27, 2015, at Marion General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

On October 19, 1939, Al was born in East Lynn, West Virginia, the oldest of four children of the late Alvin and Opal Marie (Watts) Isaacs. He graduated from Sherman High School in Seth, West Virginia, in the class of 1958.

Shortly following graduation, Al served in the U.S. Marine Corp, a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served on the flight level of several air craft carriers and witnessed the beginning of U.S. involvement in the war.

An auto mechanic by trade, Al worked at countless dealerships throughout West Virginia and Ohio.

One of Al's favorite pastimes was cooking, and he loved spoiling his family and friends with unique meals for them to enjoy. He also was well known in Marion as both "the bread maker" and the "King of the Towers."

In his younger years, Al loved fishing and listening to bluegrass music.

Al cherished every moment spent with his family, and he especially loved being around and spoiling all of their children.

He will be missed by his son, Dennis (Brenda) Marquis of Marion; grandson, Dustin (Shelly McKee) Marquis; four great-grandchildren: Evan, Chase, E.B. and Mason; a brother, Frank (Rhonda) Isaacs of Bay Town, TX; a brother-in-law, Gene Crochet of Marion; a sister-in-law, Lucille Isaacs of Gulf Port, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, Al was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Isaacs; and two siblings: Wilbur Isaacs and Freda Crochet.

A memorial service honoring Al's life will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 27th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion, with Phil Adey officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and can be sent to the care of the funeral home.
