Everette Coldwell Obituary

Everette E. Coldwell

SEBRING: Everette E. Coldwell, formerly of Marion, Ohio, and now of Copeland Oaks, Sebring, Ohio, died at 12:54 am on July 13, 2012. He was born in Mt. Gilead, Ohio on January 11, 1922 to Jay and Helen Coldwell, deceased, and has one brother, Donald J. (Patricia) Coldwell of Marion.

One February 7, 1946, he married Louise (Hinaman) in Marion, and they have four children, a daughter, Carol (Michael) Reck of Westerville, Ohio; and three sons, Richard (Terri) Coldwell of Cincinnati area, Donald (Ruth) Coldwell of Marion, Oh., and Michael (LuAnn) Coldwell of Twin Lakes, Oh. All graduated from Otterbein College. They have eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He served three years in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant with the 28th General Hospital Unit-European Theater.

Everette was the Executive Vice President of National City Bank of Marion when he retired on July 1, 1984. He was active in the community and served as a board member for the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce and Marion General Hospital. He was a past President of Ridgedale Lions Club, served on the Ridgedale High School-Board of Education for two terms, and was President of the Board of Education for two years. He was active in the Boy Scouts and was President of the Harding Area. He also served in many administrative positions for the Boy Scouts of America, including National Council Member. In scouting, he received his 60 year service pin, the Silver Beaver - one of Scouting's highest awards, and the Cross and Flame, the United Methodist Church's highest award for scouting.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church while in Marion, serving on many committees including Chairman of the Pastor Parish Committee and as Lay Member to the Annual Conference for 16 years.

At his retirement, he and his wife moved to Lakeside, where he was active at Lakeside Church and served as treasurer and then President of the Friends of Hotel Lakeside. For the past 16 years, they have lived at Copeland Oaks and have been members of Christ U.M. Church in Alliance.

There will be a Memorial Service held at the Copeland Oaks Chapel at 3:00 pm on Monday, July 16, 2012.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Life Care Fund of Copeland Oaks, Oaks Foundation, 715 Johnson Road, Sebring, Ohio 44672. Arrangements by Dean's Funeral Home, Sebring, Ohio. 330-938-2744.
