Floyd Boyd, Sr.

MARION: Floyd Boyd, Sr., age 87, of Marion, Ohio, formerly of Betsy Layne, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 surrounded by family at the Marion Manor Nursing Home. On May 30, 1928, he was born to the late A. M. and Lizzie (Williams) Boyd, and on February 6, 1953, he married Jackie (Gilliam) Boyd in Betsy Layne, Kentucky.

Floyd was a long-time member of the First Freewill Baptist Church, and he worked at Eaton for 35 and a half years until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida, loved fishing, and enjoyed gardening. He also enjoyed woodworking. He loved his grandchildren and always enjoyed being around them.

He is survived by his wife Jackie Boyd of Marion, Ohio; his sons Floyd (Sharon) Boyd Jr. and Kenny (Brenda) Boyd of Marion, Ohio; his daughter Sheila (Steve) Persinger of Marion, Ohio; his six grandchildren, Steven (Jan) Boyd, Dale (Kaycie) Boyd, Chad (Airian) Persinger, Jacob (Ashley) Boyd, Cory (Melissa) Persinger, and Sabra Boyd; his nine great-grandchildren, Brayden, Lucy, Layla, Alayna, Corissa, Avery, Archer, Ronan, and Knox; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Lloyd and Jay; his sisters Eulavene, Florida, and Ruthann; and his grandchildren Cara and Drew.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will be held at the First Freewill Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jerry Copley officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Freewill Baptist Church or the Ohio Health Hospice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boydbornfuneralhome.com.
