Frank Downing Obituary
Marion - Frank Downing, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Promedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation (formerly Heartland) of Marion, surrounded by his family.
Frank was born on April 10, 1946, to the late Leon and Alberta (Cosey) Downing in Ruleville, Mississippi. On July 8, 1967, he married Betty Collins, the love of his life.
Frank graduated from Harding High School in the class of 1965. He served in the Air Force of the United States. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and belonged to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Marion where he served as an elder in the congregation. Frank was an industrious person. He worked for Tecumseh Products for 18 years, for Floyd Browne Associates, Inc. and he retired from Sypris Technologies after 24 years. Frank and his wife also owned Complete Janitorial Services for more than 30 years. He enjoyed watching sports, fishing, dining out with family and friends, and vacationing with his family; but his great joy was sharing Bible truths with others. Frank will truly be missed by family and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Kevin Downing; his sister: Delores Troutman and five brothers: Arthur Jones, John L. Mitchell, Billy Lyn Downing, Donald Downing and Willie Downing.
Those who will cherish his memories include his wife of 53 years: Betty Downing of Marion, Ohio; his daughters: Kimberly Downing of Marion, Ohio and Kysha Downing of Marion, Ohio; his sisters: Lenora (Johnnie) Downing-Mayes of Marion, Ohio and Renee Downing of Marion, Ohio; his brothers: Lorenza Jones of Marion, Ohio and Perry Mitchell of Marion, Ohio; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may come to honor Frank's life on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 11am to 1pm at the Boyd Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date, with Michael Conte officiating. Donations may be given to Jehovah's Witnesses, P.O. Box 2518, Marion, Ohio 43302. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Downing family.

Sister Downing this is Brother Brown in Tennessee. Just wanted to let you know that we have your family in our prayers to Jehovah. So, sorry to hear of the passing of Frank. I really liked him for from the time we were in Marion. I can remember a time when it was really tough for Cheri and I but, Frank was so encouraging to us and should us kindness is a gentle way. That will stay with us forever. Just to refresh your memory, my wife Cheri's mother was Sister Virginia Penny. Most people remember when I mention her. I am also close friends with Bro & Sister McManus. So, remember to stay close to Jehovah and his people and they will help you through this time of loss.

I was a guard from 1986-1989 at Eaton Corp. I knew Frank and really liked him. I also knew Kevin at the bank and like him too! Sorry for your loss, prayers to the family and RIP.

Frankie was one of my heros growing up on North State Street . He would protect us younger smaller kids from the bullies . He was kind and gentle but also a powerful young man with a heart of gold . Kindness was his gift and he will be fondly remembered as a man of honor and faith . I'll miss you my Brother ! Rest in Jesus .
