James William Howe

DELAWARE: James William Howe, age 92, of Delaware and formerly of Radnor, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Sarah Moore Health Care Center. James was born January 17, 1919, Marion County, Ohio to Jesse Howe and Mina Howe (Doubikin).

He served in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific, was a member of United Steel Workers of America since 1949, a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #70, Marion, Ohio, and a life member of VFW Post #3313, Marion, Ohio. James was also a member of Radnor Baptist Church, Radnor, Ohio and was a setup welder for 38 years at Marion Power Shovel Company.

James is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marjorie Howe (Heavlin) of Delaware, Ohio; children, Janet (Duane) Benedict of Holmes Beach, Florida, Linda Lewis of Eldorado Hills, California, Steve (Connie) Howe of Byron, Georgia; grandchildren, Todd Benedict of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Michele (Marc) McMurphy of Henniker, New Hampshire, Brian Calhoun (Sibylle Schwarz) of Wellington, New Zealand, Andrea (Jeff) Gross of Eldorado Hills, California, Michael Howe (Shannon Tuzzi) of Lewis Center, Ohio, Eric Howe of Columbus, Ohio; great grandchildren, Mac, Meg and Katie McMurphy of Henniker, New Hampshire, Gabe, Abi, Zack and Madi Gross of Eldorado Hills, California, Leno Paletti of Lewis center, Ohio; sister, Catherine Beckley of Delaware, Ohio.

Graveside services conducted by the Delaware County Veterans Association will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011, 1:00 P.M. at Radnor Cemetery, Radnor, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Jim's memory be made to Homereach Home Care and Hospice, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware, Ohio 43015.
