James Levering Obituary
MARION: James M. Levering, age 81, of Marion passed away on Friday February 5, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
James was born on Saturday December 29, 1934 to the late Kenneth R. and Kathryn L. (Issler) Levering in Marion. He was one of three children. James began his working life at 10 years old working on a farm. Baling hay and doing the farm chores molded James into the hardworking and dedicated employee he became.
James married the love of his life Joetta Osborne in 1978. Together they raised their family consisting of 11 children and enjoyed 37 wonderful years of marriage.
James worked as the Operations Director for Goodwill Industries until his retirement in 1996 at the age of 62.
James was a past member of the Moose Lodge. He had a love for motorcycles and would never turn down a chance to go for a ride. James was also an avid bowler and competed on several bowling leagues. He took his love for bowling and purchased the Southland Lanes. He owned and operated that business for 10 years.
James will be dearly missed by his wife Joetta Levering; children Mark, Dean, Ralph, Bryon, Alvin, Fred, Kim, Christine, Kathy, Pam, and Trina; 19 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.
He was met at heaven's gate by his parents, brother William Levering, sister Mary Temple, and 2 grandchildren.
James family will greet friends on Thursday February 11th, 2016 from 11 am to 1pm at Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home 347 West Center Street, Marion. Services honoring his life will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Monte Perry officiating. Burial will be in Green Camp Cemetery.

Dear Gramps,
I can't tell you how much you are missed today as Nathan & I go into the hospital today to have another baby. We all know how much pain you had & needed to go be free. We pray you can see the new baby boy & know that we will tell him all about you & the things you have taught all of us.... Thank you so much for the laughs you have given us but today even as thankful as we are for the baby ( whole wheat ) we still shed tears. Rest easy we love you.
