Janet R. Lawrence

UPPER SANDUSKY: Janet R. Lawrence, age 96, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

Janet was born on October 13, 1917 in Marion County, Ohio to Fred J. and Gladis (Mapes) Lusch.

She married Eugene Thomas Lawrence on May 5, 1941 in Upper Sandusky and he died on January 21, 1975.

Preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Isler; and brothers, Howard and Charles Lusch.

Surviving are two children, Marilyn (Gene Noggle) Lawrence of Delaware, Ohio and Jerry (Pamela) Lawrence of Upper Sandusky; three grandchildren, Nicole (Eric) Morris of Upper Sandusky, Jordan (Lisa) Lawrence of Columbus, Logan (Katja) Lawrence of Upper Sandusky; and four step grandchildren, Laura Andrews of Ostrander, Craig Noggle of Sunbury, Paula Berry of Perrysburg and Beth Haas of Marion. Janet is also survived by three great grandchildren, Mitchell Fogle, Aiden Morris and Anna Janet Lawrence; six step great grandchildren, Jarrod McCown, Cassie and Amanda Haas, Josh and John Berry and Jennifer Bryce as well as six step-great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Lusch, Waterville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet was a homemaker and worked in her early years for the local Farm Bureau in Upper Sandusky and served for 25 years as the presiding judge for the election board at South School.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky for over 5O years, where she was also active with the church's Women's Guild. She also was a member of the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Guild, Friends of the Library, Upsan Mother's Club, Blizzard Card Club, and the Harpster Travel Club. She also volunteered with South School Breakfast Program, and the various support drives for the Red Cross, Heart Association and the Cancer Society, all in Upper Sandusky.

Janet also enjoyed her time with the Saturday Lunch Bunch, and traveling with her family, having visited all the 50 states, Mexico, Canada and Europe. She enjoyed baking cookies, exercising, playing gin rummy and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her kindhearted nature and her gentle countenance.

Funeral services for Janet R. Lawrence will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, November 20, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Brad McKibben officiating.

Visitations will be held on Tuesday, November 19, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
