Michael Heth Obituary

Michael Lynn Heth

ENON: Michael Lynn Heth, 64, of Enon, Ohio (formerly of Marion, Ohio) passed away in his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with heart disease. Mike was born May 27, 1951, the oldest son of Warren D. and Marilyn (Riddle) Heth. He attended Elgin High School until his senior year, then graduated from Harding High School in Marion in 1969.

Following graduation Mike entered the U.S. Coast Guard where he participated in many at sea rescues. He also played saxophone in the Coast Guard band. During his military service he became a master electrician. This trade served him well in his career with Marion Power Shovel, Hobart Industries and Panasonic before health issues forced him to take early retirement. Mike was an avid reader and could carry on a conversation on just about any subject. He was a faithful Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 28 years, Rhonda; son Brett (Tina) Heth of Grove City; daughters Trisha (Casey) Jones of Navarre, Florida and Katherine (Noel) Moreland of Enon. He also leaves behind grandchildren Clinton, Colton and Brittany Heth, Morgan and Sidney Jones and Noel Ivan Moreland. Mike is also survived by his father, Warren D. Heth of Lexington; beloved mother-in-law, Katherine N. Conley of Enon; brothers Karl (Laurie) Heth of Urbandale, Iowa; Andy Heth of Lexington; Kurt (Beth) Heth of Jacksonville, Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A man of deep and abiding faith, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life service will be conducted by Rev. John Heth on Friday, March 11 at 4:30 p.m. at Fair Park Baptist church located at 940 Bermuda Street in Marion. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

My Uncle Mike. The man that taught me I had a terrible poker face, which I'm sure has saved me from what could only have been a horribly unsuccessful career as a professional poker player. He was also the first person in the Heth family to make me feel like I was an adult when he trusted me to drive the van at 2am when I was 18 while everyone else slept on our all-night road trip to Florida. As an adult I understand how much faith in me this took and I'm surprised he got even a wink of sleep! You will be missed and I'm sorry I'm not able to be there to share these stories with the rest of the family...

I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother Michael, Karl. I lost a sibling recently and I know the sadness that you feel now. Please know that I am thinking about and praying for your family.

Sweet, tenderhearted, super-intelligent; a lot like his dad. We toured several historical venues and Mike was the perfect docent. He could converse easily about any subject, was well-read, and respectful to everyone. Mike was one-of-a-kind, and anyone privileged to know him was fortunate.
