Patricia Blashinsky Obituary

Patricia Ann Blashinsky

MARION: Patricia Ann Blashinsky, 75, lost her battle with lung cancer on Saturday November 5, 2011. She left us for her new home while surrounded by her family. Armed with her "Indian Blood", she battled lung cancer caused by smoking. During chemo and radiation she enjoyed the full time company and gentle care of her granddaughter Jamie.

She was married to her only love, John (The Tire Man) Blashinsky for 58 years, who died in May 2011. They had 5 daughters, Renee', Diana, Karen, JoAnn and Julie as well as three sons-in -law; seven grandchildren and two great grand children. She also had many nieces and nephews. Pat had three sisters and is survived by Patricia Steimel and is preceded in death by Thelma Caldwell and Betty Welch.

While Pat traveled and enjoyed doing so, she really loved getting home and being with her beloved poodle Luci. She will be sorely missed by her family, especially her friend and eldest daughter Renee'. They lived side by side for many years, and had a special bond.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 251 North Main St., Marion with Fr. Michael Nimocks officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Marion. There will be no calling hours.

Donations should be made to the American Cancer Society Colon/Rectum Cancer in care of the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home. The Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve Pat's family, and condolences may be expressed to them online by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.

Pat and I were friends since grade school days when we lived in the same neighborhood. We graduated with the class of '55 but lost touch with each other until recent years. When we connected again, I found she was still the fun loving, extremely nice person she had always been.

I will never forget my last visit with Pat at MGH. She was an inspiration. She had a very strong faith and knew that she would be with John and other loved ones after she passed over and that we will all see each other again when our time comes. In fact, she promised to hold the gates of heaven open for me when it is my time. That's the way she was – fun, loving, and just a beautiful spirit. I left there feeling very sad but at the same time very uplifted. God bless all of her family in this very sad time. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that she is well and happy now and looking down on all of her loved ones and that we will all see her again.

To Pat's family,

Your family was known to us for many years through the school but mainly by name only. However, we became acquainted with your parents when they joined the Pleasant Senior Center a few years ago. Your Mother's smile was very contagious! That is what we will remember about her. We will be praying for you through the coming days and extend our sympathy to you. I (Ruth) saw my parents leave for their heavenly home within a five month period and I understand how difficult this can be. But what a blessing it is to know they are now at peace and we will see them later. God bless you.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. What a wonderful and very nice lady she was. My husband, Andy, has done some work for her and really enjoyed some of their talks they had. I know her from coming into Menards and always had a smile and a hug for you. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
