Scott Vincent Murphy

NEW BLOOMINGTON - Scott Vincent Murphy, age 42, of 7293 Larue-Prospect Rd. West, died Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 2:05 p.m. in The Regency Manor, Columbus, Ohio. He was born on January 14, 1966 in Marion, Ohio to John M. Murphy of New Bloomington and Katherine Mick Griffith of Russells Point, Ohio. They both survive along with his stepfather, Ronald Griffith. Scott was a 1984 graduate of Marion Catholic High School, a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, and served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Fox during the Persian Gulf Conflict.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his brother, Jeff Murphy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two stepbrothers, William R. Griffith of Victorville, Calif. and Rodney Lee (Tracy) Griffith of Middletown, R.I.; and two stepsisters, Susan (Rick) Knotts and Nancy Burkhardt both of Marion; He is also survived by grandparents, Norris and Laura Johnson; and step grandparents, Cecil and Winnie Griffith, all of Marion. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Daniel and Rosanne Murphy of Marion; and a cousin, Gregory Underwood of Akron.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, Nov.10, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Father Michael Nemocks will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Cemetery where military rites will be given by the Marion County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Boyd Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus Hall or the American Kidney Foundation.
