Shirley Mae Oates

HEPBURN: Shirley Mae Oates, age 61, of Hepburn, died Thursday April 28, 2011 at 10:50 a.m. at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She was born August 25, 1949 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Robert W. and Stella M. (Burba) Kindell. She was married to Tom Oates and he survives in LaRue.

Also surviving, one son, Geoff T. (Sara) Oates of New Bloomington; grandchildren, Heather A. Oates and Jordan Bentley both of New Bloomington; brother, Robert W. (Melanie) Kindell of Hepburn; sisters, Ruth Brown Nielsen and Karen Kindell-Moore both of East Liberty; seven nieces and nephews; nine great nieces and nephews; and step sons, Jim and Phil Harder of Mt. Victory.

She was preceded in death by brother, Richard W. Kindell; nephew, Jason R. Kindell; and great nephew, Adam D. Kindell.

Shirley was a 1967 Graduate of Kenton High School and also Marion Technical College. Member of the Kenton Moose Lodge. She retired from International Paper after working there 20 years. She was currently working at the Emerson Co in Columbus.

Private Graveside Services will be held at a later date. Minister will be the Rev. Merle B. Layne. The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue is helping the family with arrangements. There will be no calling hours.
