Heidi was born in Peoria, Illinois on Monday, March 13, 1972, the daughter of Wendy Wood Bowles and James Bowles. She graduated from Manual High School in Peoria, Illinois. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Master of Arts in Molecular Biology from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine followed by a residency in Diagnostic Radiology, both at University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was an avid waterskier and performed in the Minocqua Bats Water Ski Shows in Minocqua, Wisconsin during college summers. As a camp counselor, Heidi taught hundreds of children how to waterski. She continued to share her love of the water with family and friends throughout her life. She was also passionate about volunteering, reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband and two sons, Charles and Nicholas. She is further survived by her parents, sisters Jamie Bowles Christophersen (Matthew) and Susannah Bowles Neville (Jonathan), three nieces, and three nephews.

I met Heidi a few years ago through our ski club, the Skiing Skeeters. Our friendship had been growing deeper over the last couple years. I am so terribly saddened that I have lost this friend, but incredibly thankful for the time that I spent with her. I will remember Heidis giggle of a laugh and her beautiful smile. Heidi was a huge cheerleader for Charlie and Cole. She was so very excited about their accomplishments and she loved that she passed on her passion of water skiing to her boys. She was also a cheerleader for everyone in the ski club and was always encouraging them and cheering them on. I loved being able to ski with Heidi. After the craziness of the show ended and the dock cleaned up it was our turn to enjoy this passion we both loved. I will always remember her smile when she would come in after skiing and make a little turn to hit the water and come up laughing. She will forever be missed but she will always hold a great place in my heart. My heart is breaking for Charlie, Cole, Chuck and the rest of your family and my thoughts, prayers and endless hugs go out to all of you. Know that we will keep Heidis memory alive through the ski club and I promise we will be there in every way for Charlie and Cole and all of you. When tomorrow starts without me, dont think were far apart. For every time you think of me, Im right here inside your heart. Rest easy my friend.

To the Bowles sisters and Wendy, my oldest and dearest friends. I remember Heidi's laugh and giggles throughout the house in West Peoria, the clothes we tried on, the Babar books, the trips to Wash U, her radiance everywhere she went. I love you guys. Heidi's spirit will not be forgotten. Thinking of you. Hugs.

Mr. and Mrs. Bowles, Jamie and Susannah, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My sisters and I (Gorman girls) fondly remember the Bowles girls and Summers at the pool and on the golf course. Heidi always had a ready smile. Years later, as adults, we were staying at the Grand Floridian and I spotted her blond hair and knew it was Heidi. Same adorable person that I remembered as a kid. My heart and prayers go out to you. Fondly, Kate Gorman

We met Heidi in residency at the University of New Mexico. We were delighted when we found out that Heidi and Chuck had moved to Marshfield shortly after we moved here. Heidi was a dear friend, a talented radiologist, a gifted athlete who inspired others and a wonderful mom who was always with her beloved boys. Heidi will be missed by her hockey family, her water skiing family, her book club, her colleagues and so many others. We are deeply saddened by this loss and extend our heartfelt sympathy and support to Chuck, Charlie and Cole as well as Jim, Wendy, Jamie, Susannah, Marie and John.

Our deepest sympathy to all of Heidi's family and friends. While I didn't know Heidi well, her sons have been great friends to my boys, Ethan and Elliot, for years at daycare. Heidi was always smiling and friendly, and her deep love for her boys always was very evident. We are here for you and your boys. If any of you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Skiing Skeeters

September 14, 2018

On behalf of the Manitowish Waters Skiing Skeeters Family we wish to express our deepest sympathy to the Kenney family. Heidi will always be remembered for her bright, and enthusiastic personality. Her willingness to help, her generous contributions of time, financial support, and so much more.

Many nights after our ski shows Heidi would ski. After the energy of show had subsided, once the lake had calmed, and there was a moment for her. We remember how she would try to act non nonchalant about the opportunity to ski, but we knew deep down, she wanted to go so badly. She would wear her swim suit under her clothes just in case the conditions were right. She would be ready to ski in a moment. Once up on the water, what really stood out, even more then her great skiing ability was Heidi's smile. We remember her smile while skiing. Not many people smile when they ski. It's too hard, too much exertion. Smiling doesn't come naturally when skiing, especially as well as Heidi skied. It didn't stop her. The smile was there, each and every time. That beautiful smile will forever be a gift to all of us. Thank you Heidi, we will miss you.

We knew Heidi through hockey games and water ski shows which her sons Charles and Cole participated in with our grandsons Henry, Owen and Liam Hoerneman. Our daughter Tanya and Heidi were friends. Whenever we saw Heidi she was friendly, smiling and showing her pride in her children. She was ever faithful in her attendance at her sons' games and helped with the boats, lines and equipment when they were on the water. We admired this little lady who accomplished and did so much in this world. We also got to know her mother, Wendy Bowles, when she attended hockey games. Her memory will always be with us and we will miss her as we watch her sons' athletic events. How sad we are that she is no longer with us. Our deepest sympathy to her husband, Charles, her sons Charlie and Cole, her parents and her sisters. Sincerely, Mary and Ron Kausch
