Doris Anthony Obituary

Doris Joyce Anthony

January 27, 1928 - September 18, 2025

Doris Joyce Anthony, 97, of Aurora, Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025. She was born January 27, 1928, in Henry County, Va., to the late George Cabel Joyce and Alice Clark Joyce. Doris was the last surviving child of her parents' sixteen children.

In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Penn Anthony, Sr. She is survived by her loving children, Cynthia Anne Anthony, William Penn Anthony, Jr., Mary Ellen Jochum, and Dr. Cheryl Anthony Hubbard; six grandchildren, Jacob Penn Anthony, Meredith Catelyn Anthony, David Patrick Jochum, Nicholas James Jochum, Calgary Lilith Hubbard, and Kinley Rowan Hubbard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Anthony was a devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and delighted in their accomplishments. She carried a lifelong love of fashion and was remembered for her elegance and style at every stage of life. She had a great sense of humor and, though she rarely spoke of it, the stories she occasionally shared about growing up on a farm with many siblings and her nieces were treasured by her children.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Collinsville. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, beginning at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Henry Memorial Park in Oak Level, Va.

My condolences to Doris´ family. I was her hairstylist for years until she moved away. She was such a humble lady. I know she´ll be missed by many.
