James Clifton Obituary
April 1, 1952 - August 19, 2025
James "Jimmy" Howard Clifton, also known as "Cowboy," 73, of the Horsepasture Community passed away, Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He was born April 1, 1952, in Martinsville, Va., to the late Paul Corbet Clifton and Jean Lester Roberson Clifton.
He is survived by his brother, Paul "Jackie" Jackson Clifton (Diane); niece, Megane Savage (Shawn); nephew, Kevin Clifton, and great-niece, Ella Clifton.
Jimmy loved people and committed his life to serving and helping others. He was a lifetime member of the Horsepasture Fire Department and was a longtime member of the Horsepasture Rescue Squad. He also loved being an assistant coach for the Magna Vista girls' softball team and was a very strong supporter of the Dallas Cowboys football team.
A visitation will be held at Horsepasture Christian Church from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025. A funeral service will be held at the church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, and will be officiated by Minister Kyle Thompson and Darryl Holland. Interment will be in the Horsepasture Christian Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Horsepasture Volunteer Fire Dept. 17815 A.L. Philpott, Hwy., Ridgeway, VA 24148 or to the Horsepasture Christian Church Missions, 1146 Horsepasture Price Road, Ridgeway, VA 24148.
