Jeffrey Gann Obituary

Jeffrey Dean Gann, 61, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Jeff was born on March 13th, 1963 in Reidsville, North Carolina to Fay Nelson Gann and the late Fred Gann. Jeff brought joy, a smile, and a sense of adventure to all who knew him throughout his life. He was deeply devoted to and passionate about his family, husband to the late Shawn Gann and father to his beloved son, Drew. He cherished every moment spent together.

Jeff's love for his pets and the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He found happiness in nature, whether canoeing on the river or enjoying a quiet moment of bird watching. Jeff and Drew even enjoyed a good trip on the roaring rapid waters. His home was filled with the warmth and companionship of his pets, who brought him great joy and comfort. Jeff was also an avid sports fan and devout Atlanta Braves fan. He enjoyed attending and watching games with friends and family; it was a fun way for him to connect with people.

From an early point in his career, Jeff was a standout. He was a beloved member of his community, proud of the work he did and the wonderful relationships he built with his customers. Jeff was known for his dedication, friendliness, and the genuine care he showed to everyone he met. His customers became friends who appreciated his hard work and spirit.

Jeff was the most thoughtful, caring, and incredibly supportive husband, father, son, and friend. He loved the beach, always taking the time to appreciate life's little moments. He will be remembered for his kind heart, great advice, and brilliant sense of humor. His legacy lives on through his son and in the many memories shared with friends, family, and colleagues. Jeff was lucky to have so many dear friends that were like family to him. He cherished the moments that were shared and we thank all of you for bringing so much joy to his life.

In addition to his father, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Shawn Gann. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Drew and Samantha Gann, and one brother and sister-in-law: Freddie and Catherine Gann.

Friday, May 31, 2024 the family will hold visitation at 12:00 P.M. prior to the funeral services. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. in Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.

I just found out that Jeff had passed. He was a great friend to all who knew him and one of the most down to earth people you would meet. He would always make you laugh. We were classmates at Durham Tech. I would visit him often away from class. He will be sorely missed.

My name is Cindy Brewer Edwards. I went to school with Jeffrey. I just found out today that he has passed. Broke my heart. I'd see Jeffrey at Walmart and say 'Hey, Jeffrey ', and he would smile his sweet smile. Prayers for family and friends . Jeffrey will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss ! I thought right much of Jeff as we played high school baseball together in my Junior year at Madison Mayodan High ! He also spoke a hello in a smile or by word as I passed by the eye center at Walmart in Mayodan too ! He will always be very missed ! Hopefully we´ll see him in Heaven one day in the future too ! May God comfort you with his peace when nothing else seems to help the sorrow of Jeff´s loving personality and joy that he gave to all that knew him ! May God Bless !

Dear Drew: I am sorry for your loss. Jeff was so energetic and fun to be around! He was creative and genuinely liked people - he will be missed. I still miss Shawn so much, so sadly now Jeff is gone from the earth. I like the idea that Jeff and Shawn can meet up.

Dear Drew,
Words cannot express the sadness we feel for you the passing of your Dadl. Phillip, myself, and my family have fond memories of your parents, especially your Dad at the optical center in Walmart. May God give you peace and comfort in the days ahead. And may the memories of your parents bring joy to your soul. Blessing and love to you and Samantha.
