Karen Riddle Obituary

Karen Elizabeth Riddle

Karen E. Riddle, 57, passed away on December 28, 2022, at her home in Martinsville, Virginia, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family.

Karen was the daughter of Marian Sheppard of Richmond and the late Lewis Wayne Riddle of Ridgeway. Karen is survived by her mother, Marian; brother, Richard (Veronica); nephew, Brian (Jessica) and Ethan Riddle; aunts and cousins.

Karen was a Recreational Therapist in Madison/Mayodan where she received much joy working with her clients. She was creative, delightful, and funny. She could find humor in many situations and was a joy to be around. She loved her friends, family and her dog, Roxy.

Her mother would like to thank Karen's friend, Margaret Burkhart, for being there for Karen up to the end and for giving Roxy a loving home. Karen chose to donate her body to science to further help others. Karen was loved by many and will be sorely missed.

My condolences to Karen´s family. I´m just learning of her passing. I had been wondering why she hadn´t responded to my posts on messenger. Karen and I worked together at the Virginia Treatment Center for children years ago when she first began her career as a recreational therapist. She always had lots of energy and kept me laughing. We remained in contact after she left Richmond and I even visited her once at her home. Karen, now I know why I can´t find you! I know your in heaven making sure everyone is enjoying their free time, teaching leisure education to those who don´t know what to do with their free time and all the while keeping them laughing!! Rest in peace my friend. Until we meet again.

This was a shock! To young leave but itvis whatitvis. I worked with her in Daville, VA at a Recreational center for some years. Karen could make you laugh. She was a smart young lady and loved to be around her when I could. May the family and friends be given peace, strength and comfort. You will be missed.

Karen was funny and a delight to be around. I often encouraged to be a Stand-Up Comedian since she could always come back with something funny no matter the situation. She left this world way too early and I can see her cracking jokes with St. Peter and the Angels. Fly away Karen.
