Michelle Decker Obituary

Michelle "Shelly" Boyd Decker

June 25, 1962 - December 15, 2022

Michelle "Shelly" Boyd Decker, 60, of Martinsville, Va., passed away on December 15, 2022. She was predeceased by her father, Johnny Boyd. Many continue to celebrate her life, including her husband, Keith Decker; and her children, Finley Turner, Sydnor Trent, Christina Beaton, and Elizabeth Howell. Her grandchildren, Eleanor and Adley knew her briefly but fondly.

Shelly was born in Manila, Arkansas, in 1962. She and her siblings, Angie and John were raised by her parents, JoAnn and Johnny Boyd. Shelly went on to live many lives, from cruise ships, to pageant stages, to yoga studios. But ultimately her favorite place to be was at home in front of the fire with her dog Joey.

She was fiercely independent but loyal to those she loved. Not a single person had a better pajama set collection or could surpass her record-setting hours watched of British television. We will keep the fire lit for you.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

My dear and beautiful friend Shelly has been called home way too soon. I guess God needed a beautiful, dynamic, caring Angel and she met all the criteria! Will never forget when she won the Miss Buffalo Island Pageant. A small group of us were in attendance and every time she hit the stage we were very vocal and went wild with cheers, giving her a standing ovation each time!!!! The next day, the Jonesboro Sun printed a pic of her and the accompanying article began with " Amid the cheers of her friends, Shelly Boyd was crowned Miss Buffalo Island". We had been heard, loud and clear!!!! Shelly was always a true friend and inspiration to me. Loved her dearly!!! Thoughts and prayers have been with JiAnn, Angie, John and her children and husband. There will never be another Shelly ...RIP my friend! Love you! See you again one day.

We had some crazy times in our high school years that I´ll always bring a smile to my face! You have always been a special person in the LHS class if 1980 and always be remembered, fly high my dear friend until we meet again, love Kyle!

Shelly was a beautiful lady and a wonderful soul. She was 2 years younger than I was in high school, but I felt like we were close then. I spoke to her this fall and it was like no time had passed between the years. My heart goes out to all her family and friends during this time. Much love,

This space isn´t big enough to share all the stories and adventures we had growing up. How many miles did we drive every Friday and Saturday nights "dragging main" and listening to the radio? Even though we didn´t talk often, things never changed. I have lost a dear friend and sister. Say "hey" to our friends and classmates. I love you and will see you again.

Shelly was a remarkable human being. She would often tell me stories about her growing up and her trips to New York. We would laugh and laugh. She was definitely a storyteller. I particularly like the story of the snake. She loved her kids so much. I am sitting here crying. A light has gone out of the world. You made a difference Shelly. You were loved.
