Daniel Gaetano Macero, 80, of West Springfield, MA, passed away on October 27, 2024. Born on February 10, 1944, to the late Edith (Juffre) and Salvatore Gaetano Macero, Daniel leaves behind a legacy marked by dedication & love for his family, & a spirited enthusiasm for his beloved sports teams.
Daniel graduated from Somerville High School in Somerville, MA. From 1964 to 1972, he served honorably in both the Army & Army Reserves, exemplifying the values of duty & commitment. His professional life was equally distinguished. He worked at the Prudential Insurance Company from 1967 until his retirement in 2002. Throughout his career, Daniel held various leadership roles & earned numerous awards for his outstanding guidance & management, particularly of his nationally recognized, award-winning region.
Daniel was a lifelong sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching his sons play football growing up & Daniel was passionate about the New England Patriots & the Boston Red Sox. He also thoroughly enjoyed mowing his lawn, gardening, snow blowing & spending quality time cheering on his favorite teams & traveling to Marco Island. Above all, Daniel cherished moments with his family, especially his grandchildren, Allie, Sam, Danny, Maxwell, Julia, and Kyle.
Daniel leaves his family including his children, Daniel S. Macero & his wife Samantha of Hamden, MA; Mark Macero & his wife Kelly Jo of Sturbridge, MA; Lisa Pease of South Hadley; & Tracie Bannon & her partner, Paula of South Hadley, MA. He was a proud grandfather to Samuel Macero (Nicole), Maxwell Macero, Julia Macero, Alexandria Pease (Seth), Daniel Pease (Samantha), & Kyle Pease.
Dan was predeceased by his loving wife, Sandra, who passed away on November 3, 2019.
Daniel's life was one of profound impact and joyous engagement, leaving memories that will forever resonate with those who knew him.
Calling hours will be held at St. Mary's Church, Longmeadow, MA, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 11 am to 1 pm, with a Prayer Service immediately following from 1 pm to 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Daniel's memory may be made to his favorite charity, the
Shriners Hospital.
