1936 - 2025
East Longmeadow
Jean (Milbier) Kelly, 88, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025. She was born in Springfield on December 13, 1936 a daughter of the late William F. and Alice (Bogart) Milbier. Jean was a graduate of Cathedral High School and later graduated from Westfield State College. She worked at Maple Shade Elementary school as a 3rd grade teacher for many years. In her early years she was a daycare provider. She enjoyed gardening, going for daily walks, cheering for her beloved Red Sox, and loved spending time with her family and her adored dogs Casey, Ben and Max. Jean was predeceased by her parents, her brother William "Bill" Milbier Jr., her sister, Geraldine Crowley and her beloved husband Mort Kelly, of 45 years in Feb. 2009. She will be missed her three devoted children, John Kelly of Cape Cod, Michael Kelly and his wife Brenda of Milton, MA., Patricia Kelly and her partner Jeff Carterud of East Longmeadow, her six adored grandchildren, Brody Kelley, Brynna Kelley, Patrick Malmborg, Kennedy Malmborg, Emmet Kelly, Mary Kelly, and a sister-in-law, Joan Milbier of Wilbraham. She also leaves nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jean's funeral will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home 220 N. Main Street, East Longmeadow, from 9AM to 10AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11AM St. Michaels Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. Rites of Committal will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street in Agawam. For more details and to share condolences please visit www.forastiere.com.

Dear Family. My Siblings and I got to know Jean at the East Longmeadow memory care. She and her friend Barbara always kept us entertained with stories and conversations while we were visiting our mom( the other Jean) Jean Richard. Our mom passed in July. Blessing for having these great women in our lives.

To Jean's family:
Our mother, Barbara, and Jean became fast friends at ELMCAL. One was rarely without the other, whether it be sitting in "their chairs" by the dining area or out in the courtyard soaking up some rays. Mom is surely missing their companionship, but she knows Jean is in a better place. We send our sincere condolences and prayers to you all. Jean was surely a gem!

Patti, John and Mike -- Jean was simply a joy to know. She was always kind to everyone she met. Each time I saw her she would ask about everyone and how they were doing. A couple of times she asked that I sneak the dog in so she could say hi! She will be greatly missed! I'm so sorry for your loss.
