LA VERGNE, Tenn. - Dwayne Bell was born to Edwin and Daisy Youngblood Bell in Graves County of Western Kentucky, December 1949. He thrived within the cradle of both the Bell and Youngblood families.
Upon his 1968 Mayfield High School graduation, he registered for the Army with the assumption of being soon drafted for the war in Vietnam. However, he was deployed to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he was trained to repair boats and execute rescue missions.
His marriage to Patty Foy in 1970 resulted in two children, Hallie and Andrew. Dwayne was widowed in 1983. He met his second wife, Vicki Scott, at Broadway Church of Christ where their family became busy members until 2015. Their families combined in 1985 to include Vicki's daughter, Alison Scott. His daughter Abby Bell was born in 1987.
They owned and operated the mom and pop Town & Country Decorating Center in Paducah, Kentucky. Dwayne enjoyed sales and serving others. His hobbies included woodworking, restoring old cars, camping, participating in church educational and benevolent activities.
Dwayne was devoted to his wife, their four children, and six grandchildren - loving them unconditionally. He was also devoted to his Savior and lived his life in a way that honored God with gratitude for many blessings. Dwayne was relationally driven, and never complained even in his darkest hours. He was an optimistic, meek and gentle man. Dwayne earned the nickname "Mr. Wonderful" from his Rural Hill Church of Christ family and the home health professionals. Everyone understood he would never complain though often experiencing tremendous pain.
On Thursday, April 27, 2023, Dwayne was joking with his caregiver before drifting peacefully from this earthly home to his eternal home. He will be truly missed by all.
