MAYSVILLE – Charles (Chuck) Lynch Simmons III, 75, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025.
Chuck was born in Santa Monica, Calif., on April 24, 1950, the son of the late Charles Lynch Simmons, II and the late Olga Seplak Simmons.
Chuck held an English Literature B.A. from UC Santa Barbara. He was an accomplished writer and researcher. Prior to starting his business, Charles was a skilled prototype machinist in the aerospace industry in Southern CA. Following the Challenger disaster, Chuck decided to leave aerospace.
In 1992, he started Charles Simmons and Associates Paint and Restoration. Chuck became a master in architectural restoration, plastering, and painting. He hired Juan Gomez as foreman. An accomplished team, they built a thriving business.
In 1997, Chuck, Ruby, and Juan moved to Denver, Colo. While there, Chuck and Juan began working simultaneously in Maysville, restoring the historic Lee House Inn before branching out to homes and buildings throughout Mason County. Juan became a son to Chuck and his wife, Ruby Miyasato-Simmons.
In 2012, Chuck turned over his Colorado clientele to Juan when Chuck and Ruby relocated to Maysville. Ruby will remain a devoted Maysville resident. They recently celebrated their 30th anniversary.
Chuck is survived by his daughter Sabrina Simmons; stepsons Philip (Karen), Ron, and Ryan (Evelyn) Miyasato; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandson; sisters Carol (Dave) Steingraeber and Sue (Bob-deceased) Kinmont; brother Jim Simmons (Belinda Abelar); and Juan (Moniquea) Gomez.
