TEXARKANA, Ark. — Ulysses Green was born on Sept. 9, 1939, in Maysville, Kentucky to the late Carl and Fannie Jones Green. On Feb. 22, 2022, Mr. Green passed away at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
Mr. Green served in the United States Navy for nearly 30 years. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked at the San Diego Shipyard for 15 years. Later, Mr. Green and his wife of 41 years relocated to Texarkana, Texas.
He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church where he served on the hospitality committee. He was known to many as Lysse. He loved to watch westerns, spend time in his garden and he was meticulous about his yard. He loved to fish and hunt and above all he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Green; his daughter, Rachael Green of San Diego, Calif.; his step-daughter, Cassanda McMillian of Yorktown, Va.; step-son, Jerome Weatherspoon of Texarkana, Ark.; his grandson, Jordan and son-in-law, Willie Mohammad of San Diego, Calif.; his sisters, Velma Wilburn of Maysville, and Odessa Stewart (Charlie) of Sierra Vista, Az.; his sisters-in-law, Tarza Greene and Earlee Greene and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Tracey Mohammad; his brothers, Carl Greene Jr., John Dudley Greene, William Greene, Charles Greene, Wendell Greene and George Greene; and his sisters, Linda McGriff, Hilda Hord, Martha Commodore, Betty Bradley and Barbara Greene.
Visitation will be held at Jones-Stuart Mortuary on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 3-5 p.m., in Texarkana, Arkansas.
Graveside services will be held at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Nash, Texas on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 2 p.m., with Reverend Sheldon Williams officiating.
