We are very deeply sadden by the loss of your son and beloved Dad. He was a wonderful neighbor and a great man. My husband ALex thought the world of Al and on Sundays during football season would go over and watch the end of the Steeler game with him when he came home from work. They can now watch the Steelers together again. You will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

To Al's family: he was "the best". Such a terrific guy, a wonderful father, and a fantastic friend. Bob and I last saw Al a couple years ago when we came back East and Sheila Kaniper arranged a get-together at Krocks Pub in Wescosville. He was the same old Al, just wonderful to be around. You are truly blessed to have had such a dynamic person in your lives. He will be truly and sorely missed. May God bless all of you and comfort you in the coming days!

So saddened to hear of Alan's passing. He was such an inspiration to all. Somewhere among my many pictures, I have the newspaper picture of Aunt Vilma and Alan when he was, I believe, the Poster Child for Easter Seals. He was truly an exceptional person. Now he's with Uncle Ali, Cousin Tommy, Mom and Dad and all those he loved who passed before him, who rejoice at seeing him again. May you find peace in that and the lovely memories you have.

To the family: I never had the pleasure of meeting Al's family but i was proud to be part of Al's union family! Al was always the first to stand up for injustice and support those who couldn't, or wouldnt stand up for themselves! I was proud to walk a couple of picket lines with al;In particular, Al and I ......and several other members walked around the building in Fogelsville as the company hired temps to do our work. On a day as hot as today, Al walked up and down the lot time and time again. He wouldn't rest even though he was in disconfort. Al Abraham is, was and will always be one of my heroes! Your father was a great man and made a BIG difference!!!

I'm sorry to hear about Alan's passing. My condolences to you aunt Vilma, Tommy, and Natalie and Ashley. Alan was a great friend my whole life. In the back of my mind, he stood as a good example of someone who was hindered by circumstances as he moved through all obstacles gracefully and without hesitation. When we played baseball over a Midway Manor or anywhere else, he was always a good athlete and competitor. When I had a stroke in 2009, his example of never feeling sorry for yourself had a great life lesson in my life that guided me unconsciously. Alan was phenomenal...I'll miss him. God bless our entire family and friends.

Aunt Vilma, Tommy, Carole, Natalie, Ashley and Cole,
Lucille and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Alan. We will keep his memory in our hearts forever.
And … to you Wickes …
Sixty years, a blink of an eye! Even though you have left us far too early, I only wish that I knew of your illness and its seriousness. I would have liked to have had the opportunity to say this in person.
I have always kept the memory of a courageous little boy who went through a life changing event at the age of two, an event that most people including myself would not have been able to handle as you have.
Over the years I watched you take on the challenges that life dealt you, the years of overcoming the pain and hardships. I marveled at the way you took on adversity, how you didn't back down when it came to sports, I still remember how proud I and everyone was when you played baseball for Midway Manor and especially how you ran for yourself instead of using a pinch runner.
When you took on the working world, you did it with determination and pride and when you decided that the time had come, you became an excellent father, raising two beautiful daughters.
Yes Wickes … You accomplished in Sixty years what most never do and if I may paraphrase a saying:
When life dealt you Lemons … You made the best Lemonade ever!!!!
Your Cousin … The other Wickes.
p.s. The next time I go out on the Sound … I will make sure to take a half dollar to throw … I know you will catch it.

It is with deepest sympathy to Al's family to learn of his passing.

Al grew up with and was friends with my husband through his school years and also was a neighbor in Midway Manor.

Despite Al's disability, and one might say he didn't have one, because he NEVER let anything get in his way of enjoying life.

Dave will always remember the great times spent with Al as classmates and most importantly, FRIENDS.
