The Yorgey Family,

Kent, Ardy, Travis, and Nikki I have to say that it has been such a blessing to be a part of your family. I have a vivid memory of my first time at the church and it was with, guess who? You already know, haha Ben. My family had been visiting the church for sometime but we were fairly new. I remember that Kathy Davis was giving me a tour of the church. We started upstairs, made our way downstairs and walked around the church to the front. I don't recall who was outside playing football or tossing a ball back and forth with Ben, but Kathy decided to run for the door and I followed. Little did I know that Ben would assume we were playing with him. I sure didn't know him very well then. As I ran following Kathy, Ben grabed me with his arms lifting me up. I was so embarassed, but now that I look back at that memory it will always be dear to my heart. I learned so much from Ben that to this day, he will always be with me and everyone that loved him dearly. I have to say it was such a wonderful blessing to be a part of Ben's life I would not have wanted it any other way. I love you all! Know that Ben is with each and everyone of us. He would have wanted us to be happy, carefree, and silly. He will always be my papi chulo :)

Kent and Ardy,
I learned of Ben's passing a few days ago through my sister Wendy. I have only a few brief memories of him as our family's lives have not crossed paths often enough over the years. I'm sorry I did not have the opportunity to know Ben better. There is a day coming when the pain of this life will cease, and our Lord will wipe away our tears. Judy and I may not truly understand your grief at this time, but we will still mourn with you in the days to come.

I remember trips to Dorney with Ben! He once yelled at the lady in the parking lot but in a loving way "2 TICKET PLEASE!!!" then we had to calm him down and then when we drove away my mom said thank you to the lady and Ben turned around to Kaitlyn and I and said "YOU WELCOME!!!" We all had to laugh but that look on his face was priceless, as if he just gave someone a million dollars. The whole rest of the day he would tap us and stare like somthing was really serious then when we would laugh that famous smile would come on his face!

Ben truly was an embodiment of what it meant to be an ambassador for Christ. Always seeing behind the facades we often wear, Ben could see into people's spirits. His smile and enthusiasm for life was so evident... even from a distance. He so impacted my life by causing me to be kinder and more patient that I would have been in the flesh. I miss Ben the most when we're worshipping at church. I'll fondly remember the times when he was so caught up in worship that I just knew that he'd entered a realm close to God's throne and His heart. I miss Ben so much, but will see him soon at Heaven's gate!

Ben,
I know the Morning Call has circulation power. I wish they could get this note to you. I want to tell you how much I love you and miss your always-loving greeting wherever I would see you. I miss your hugs and the opportunity to find out what you'd been up to lately by reading your most recent t-shirt and checking out your new bracelets. It caught me up without words. Like your smile. No words necessary to know you love me. To share our love for Jesus. One look. One hug. We were caught up. Someday (it'll go fast) I'll get my next smile and hug from you and we'll be all caught up on our love for Jesus and each other. Looking forward to it. Love you, Ben.

Kent, Ardy, Nikki, Travis and all of the family- We were sad to hear of your loss. I know that you will miss Ben so much. We havent been back to Allentown, or NBF ( it was ABC, then) in so many years but you and Ben and your family all were part of our growth in the Lord during the years we lived and worshipped with you. All of us ( me, Homer and Becki) loved Ben and we have talked often about him this past week and the sweet and funny things we remember about him that endeared him to us. So many people loved him because he made them feel special-he just let you in and his face owuld shine when he saw you. I wish we all had that quality. We remember Ben with great fondness and look forward to meeting him some day in Heaven. Surely I will be walking along and he will grab me-Smiling so BIG and say- "Don't I know you? Ms. Janette!" and I will get to hear his story from the perspective of Heaven. :)
Just one more thing to look forward to...
We are praying for you and have precious memories of our time in PA with you.
Love, Homer and Janette and Becki Reeves

Our family only knew Ben for a short time since starting to attend New Beginnings Fellowship last year but it didn't take long to be captivated by his passion for life. Always able to say and do what was on his heart--sometimes that was good and sometimes it gave his Mom a workout. But he didn't waste one minute. If he saw someone he could talk to he was right there and God's love just radiated from him. We can all learn a lot from Ben's approach to life. How many people did you share God's love with today? Ben would tell us "Just walk up to someone and say 'Don't I know you' and it's really easy after that". God has a special purpose for all of us. God used Ben in a mighty way and he will be missed until we meet again.

Ben is going to be missed by so many. Every Sunday he made my day even when I was down, Ben changed my mood fast with his amazing joy, laughter, and spunk. His passion and love for Jesus amazed me every sunday at church, He just soaked up whatever God was ministering to him.
I loved how he enjoyed God's presence and embraced life no matter what the circumstances were. Sitting in the second row at church in front of the drum set every Sunday, and him always watching not just me but everyone and seeing him smile, Its going to be hard sitting in that row from now on and not seeing him watch me or smile at me. Ben Ben Ben am I going to miss you like crazy!!!! Because of you Ben being in my life and being a huge impact, my hearts desire is to help kids in need and just love on them and impact their life like you have impacted mine. You not only have been a great friend but you have opened my eyes to love people for who they are no matter what the circumstance is. Love You and see u in heaven

I met Ben when we started attending New Beginnings. I will always remember the door opening at Ben yelling, "Good Morning". He said that in truth and with much enthusiasm. Then he would always ask, "Where are the girls" or "Are you coming to youth group". Always recruiting for a social event and he wanted everyone there. Not one should be missing. Just as Jesus desires. Not one should be missing!!
Ben had a big spirit, which is something I keep working at but he possesed. He knew how to get into Jesus' presence in worship and it inspired me every Sunday morning. Ben you will always be a presence at New Beginnings and we will miss you and your comments. I love you Ben. I look forward to seeing you again!

When I looked around at all the people who came to say good-bye to Ben I was amazed at the seemingly unending line of people who have been touched in some way by this amazing young man's life. My special memories of Ben are visiting NBF and being met by him at the door with the biggest smile a person could imagine, saying Hi,Sarah, welcome to our church and walking me in to the sanctuary with his arm around me. How many people have been welcomed to a church like that? See you later, Ben - I know you are happier now than all of the rest of us.

YES, Ben, you changed my life with yours!
I first got close to Ben at our church when he was about 10, as I was teaching Kids Praise to a handful of young children. Well, he got it! He blessed me SO much every Sunday and Wednesday night (prayer meetings) as he worshipped the Lord with his whole body, soul, and spirit. He didn't hold back in fear of how he looked. He just worshipped God. Whenever we had special services from visiting preachers, he was always wanting to be first in line for prayer. Also, he loved praying FOR others in our weekly prayer groups. I could go on and on. . . God FILLED him up and he kept pouring out his love to others continually, then knew how to go back and get "filled up" again with the love of heaven. Thank you BEN! You are very, very missed, but will stay in our hearts. See you ONE DAY! Just as at our church, I'm sure you will be one ENTHUSIASTIC greeter when the rest of us join you there!

Dear Yorgey Family,
I am deeply sorry to hear of the loss of Ben. I met Ben last year at the Special Olympics and thought he was one of the coolest people there. He was so friendly and had so much enthusiasm. My friends and I always talked about him whenever we talked about going to Special Olympics and were sad to hear of what happened. When Ben came around he brought smiles to all of our faces, and he was deeply missed at this year's Special Olympics. Ben was truly an inspiration and I am so glad I got to meet him!

Dear Yorgey Family,
It was with mixed sadness and joy that we learned Ben has gone on to be with the Father. We only had the pleasure of meeting Ben once, but he made such a wonderful, loving impression on us. Our son, Adam, loved Ben more than we can say. He was an amazing young man who will not be forgotten. He will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. We will hold you close in our hearts and prayers in the coming days.

Yesterday Ben was with us but today he is with his Maker. Ben has lost few friends here on earth but gained many in heaven. The psalmist said, "when we shall awake in HIS (CHRIST) likeness then we shall be satisfied. Ben will rise again and look like JESUS one day. Yesterday Ben looked like us but one day we shall look like him. Ben went to the grave willingly and was not dragged by death. He went at FULL AGE (not old age). When it was time for Ben to be harvested as a corn in the field, The Lord sent His holy angels to take him home and be with the Lord JESUS. In fact the Lord JESUS CHRIST loaned Ben to us and when the time came for the Lord to take him home HE did. Ben is not dead but sleeping. He has taken his place in the celestial choir singing the song of Moses and the song of the LAMB. May the Holy Spirit comfort the family and the napkins JESUS left in the tomb be used to wipe all tears.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you. We are sorry for your loss but Ben is certainly Heaven's gain! Coach Katie and I were overcome with grief but Katie made light of it and said "Ben is probably sitting up there right now with his arm around GOD saying "this is MY GUY!"
Ben certainly touched alot of lives, at practice and events. I know our lives were blessed by him. We hope that you will find comfort knowing how many people loved him. That wonderful grin is forever etched in our minds and we will remember his enthusiasm and will take comfort in knowing that Ben is finally "running in his lane". Dear Yorgey Family,

My prayers and sympathy are with you during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of meeting Ben for the first time at the whitehall swimming pool. Brent swam at the time and get to know Ben very well. It was always nice to see him smiling and laughing. Then Ben came to Access Services where I am employed. What a joy. He would always say, Hey I know you, you're Brents MOM and put his arm around me. He also had the pleasure to work with my Oldest son Derrick in which he would ask about the big boy and ask how he is doing. I will miss that big smile the arm around me as we talked about Brent and Derrick. He will always be in my thoughts and his laughter will remain with me forever.
May God carry you during this time.

Dear Yorgey Family,

Our thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with you. May you truly experience the peace, comfort and joy that surpasses all human understanding, but comes when we trust all the promises of God. Love, joy, enthusiasm for life and people radiated through Ben. He will be missed greatly! If only Ben’s words "I know you" would be in all of our hearts and flow from our lips as easily as they did for Ben. Three simple words certainly enhance the flavor of every relationship. In Ben’s memory, may we feel and mean “I know you” as passionately and joyfully as Ben did.

May 11, 2009

Dear Kent and Ardy,

Ken, Sarah, and I were deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Ben. He was one of the most bright and shining people we knew, always enthusiastic and always full of energy and good cheer. He is a great loss, not only to us, but to the whole community because when we would take him in the cruise the Friday before the Wheels of Time Rod Run, he was known by everyone as we drove by. He would always turn and say "They know me!" and then laugh. It was "They know me" again and again as we drove through Emmaus and Macungie. Everyone yelled, "Hi, Ben!" We felt like we had a celebrity in the car, which of course we did!

We now know that Ben is with the Lord and, if possible, is even happier than he was here on this earth, but it is a great loss to all of us, and especially your family. We will keep you, the Yorgey family, in prayer for God's comfort during this difficult time.

Elizabeth, Mike and Terry (Uncle Tim too)

May 11, 2009

Dear Yorgey Family,
While we knew Ben from Special Olympics, through Elizabeth, we not know Ben as well as many other people, but that didn't matter to Ben. As other people have written Ben was always smiling, happy and so wonderful at making everyone enjoy him in the moment. We so enjoyed watching him dance at the Thanksgiving Feast this past year! In speaking about Ben on Sunday, I found out that Elizabeth's uncle, Tim was Ben's "UPS man". We heard stories, through Tim, of how Ben would run up to his truck and greet him--about Ben's tour of the UPS building...and so on.
He truly left a warm place in everyone's heart.
We pray that your family is able to find the strength that you will need in the Lord.
Again, our deepest sympathy,

Dear Yorgey Family
I had the pleasure to meet Ben the last two years at The Hitters Edge when he would come in with Access Services. He will be missed by everyone. I can remember the hello and the hand shanks and the many questions but best of all I remember the smile on his face when he hit softballs off the tee.

Dear Yorgey Family,

We were so sadden to hear of Ben's passing. I first met Ben when my grandaughter who is in Special Olypmics went to the Valentines Dance and he greeted us.. I always admired Ben he had a smile for evryone he met and was always so cheerful, I dont recall ever seeing him sad..He had inspired my Granddaughter as to that no one is any different than anyone one else, we just learn and do things at a different pace.
The last time we saw Ben was at a concert at Macungie Park and the last thing my granddaughter got to do was dedicate a song to Ben. May God keep you in his care and know that another angel is up in Heaven watching over all of us and that be Ben and his Warm big Smile... We will miss you Ben..R.I.P.

We have known Ben for just over a year through Rejoicing Spirits. He was truly a "rejoicing spirit." We cannot think of our Rejoicing Spirits service without Ben. His smile, his laughter, his joy of life - and so much more - truly inspired us. To know Ben was to love him.
We speak for all Rejoicing Spirits when we say that he will be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ben's family at this sad time of great loss.

Ardy and Family,
I was shocked to hear of Ben's passing. Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Ben has been a "regular" at Redner's for many years. He always put a smile on my face when he came for his weekly shopping trip with mom.He was always full of questions to keep us on our toes. He made sure everyone knew him and he knew everyone. I will miss seeing his face. May God be with all of you during this difficult time.

Dear Yorgey family,

Ben was such a bright shining face. He brightened my day when he would visit the bank. Always ready for a lollipop with a smile, and outside of the bank when we would see each other, he would say, "I know you". It truly is a blessing to have known him. I am very sorry for your loss, and have you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Yorgey Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with your family in this difficult time. Ben and I started back in 4th grade, 15 years ago. He was in my class and from that day on, he stayed forever in my heart. Ben was an amazing person. He was that person, that no matter when or where you would run into him, he could put a smile on your face. Ben loved anyone and everyone. He judged no one. He greeted life daily with a smile, and never anything less. He has impacted many people in his time with us, and will be missed greatly.

Mr. and Mrs. Yorgey and family,
I am so sorry to hear for your loss of Ben. I knew Ben from Emmaus High School, i graduated in 2005. My name is Rachel DeWeese but in high school it was Rachel Brey. I would go into bens class during my sutdy halls and help out with the students in his class. I loved it. Ben would always give me a hug and always make me smile. He was always happpy and laughing. He would laugh at the silly things I said. He was so sweet. When he would see me in the halls he would yell out HIIII RACHEL...and he loved his family, he always talked about them and espically his sister. One time he told me about going snow tubing with her over by eyer,he said it was so fun. I will always remember him. A friend of mine told me he past away when she saw his photo in the paper. I quickly went on to see. If I were home in macungie I would have liked to be at his service. I'm in El Paso, Tx now..husband is in the military. But my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God Bless.

Mr. and Mrs. Yorgey and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss, my sympathies and prayers are with you during this time. Ben was an amazing person that had the ability to put a smile on everyone's face the moment he walked into a room. His positive attitude and love for life will be deeply missed at Special Olympics. He is a great inspiration to our athletes as well as coaches and volunteers. Special Olympics events will not be the same without having Ben's smiling face walking over to say "Hey I know you.." His love for life and compassion for others will remain with us always.

I had the sheer pleasure of meeting Ben at a Special Olympics Gala held at the LMCC. I was working out at the desk when he stopped by for a "little" chat. I remember thinking what an asset he was to my day ~ truly ~ his joyful energy was a glory to behold. I know that particular night I was given a gift of treasured delight. Speaking from my own personal encounter, it would, surely, be impossible for anyone to feel like a stranger in his presence. It was with saddest that I read of his passing. As he so freely gave to other, I pray his heavenly journey will reap him bountiful blessings and fruitful encounters.

The Smile Lives On…

I still see him pushing Tori
A big smile on his face
Then he missed the walk
And bounced over the curb
He giggled out-loud, it seemed so absurd

“I know you!” was his favorite line
His big smile & hi-fives
His hugs warmed all of our hearts-young & old

He was Ben Yorgey, you know
His wonderful smile, so full of life
To know him was to love him
God blessed us all with Ben & his blithe

May his memories live long
His smile stay bright
As he watches over us
Each day, each night

Ben had the ability to make everyone he met smile. My husband and I were lucky enough to meet him a couple of years ago at the Lehigh Valley Buddy Walk that he attended with his sister Nikki (who was my sister Tori's teacher at the time). He was an amazing individual and will be missed by everyone whose heart he touched. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Yorgey family during this difficult time.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Yorgey and family,
I am very sorry for your loss and you have my deepest sympathies and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very sad time. Ben was a wonderful young man that truly enjoyed life and he had such a bubbly personality that it was contagious and made everyone else around him smile as well. I remember the very first time I met Ben when he came to The Arc for a tour. I had a very wild and crazy classroom and when Ben walked in he looked around then asked "What's all this junk?" in his "Benny" voice then proceeded to shake my hand as Imogene introduced us. After I left The Arc, I still got to see Ben quite often in the community with the rest of his group and he talked my ear off as usual. You can imagine my surprise when Ben joined the L.I.F.E. Room at Access and that surly made me very happy because I got to see my old "buddy" on a regular basis again. Ben could light up a room when he entered it and he made lots of new friends easily because he was so friendly. I will miss Ben tremendously and he will remain in my heart and his voice will ring in my ears forever.

"I love you Ben....R.I.P."

I worked with Ben all through highschool. When I graduated in 2003, he was for sure one of the only things I missed. He was always the perfect person to pick you up when you were down, and to always put a smile on your face. I often thought about him after school, and when I would run into Mrs. Deppen I would always ask how he was. His success in life was almost like our success too. I will miss him much.
