Bernadette O'Donnell

Bernadette O'Donnell, 78, loving partner and mother passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 3, 2024. Born in Motherwell, Scotland Bernadette was a daughter of the late John and Marjory (McGuinness) McConnell. She moved to Allentown in 1963 where she eventually came to work at Immaculate Conception Church. She was given her first work opportunity by Father James Magee, then pastor of ICC, who along with Father Murphy became friends in the happy home at ICC. It was at Immaculate where she met Joseph P. O'Donnell, Jr., who became her husband of fifty-seven years. In addition to providing a wonderful home for the family, Bernadette became a sought-after cook by parishes in the Lehigh Valley for decades. Bernadette was best known for her kindness and generosity. She loved to travel, especially back home to Scotland. She was the best wife, mom, grammy, and friend to those who loved her. Surviving with her husband Joseph are sons: Jospeh P. O'Donnell, III (Kristine), John O'Donnell (Tracy) and James Magee (Yvonne). Brother: John McConnell and his late wife Margaret. Sisters: Margaret Conrath and her late husband Gary, Veronica Taylor and her late husband John. Grandchildren: Erin, Kate, Shawn and his wife Savannah, Morgan, Connor, Ian, Isla, Kieran, Nina, Leila. Great grandchildren: Lexi, Lincoln, StellaMae. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00AM Wednesday January 10, 2024, in Immaculate Conception Church, Allentown. Calling hour will be 9:00-10:00AM in the vestibule of the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the O'Donnell Funeral Home, Allentown.
